Your iTunes Store Account

To purchase music, videos, and audiobooks from the iTunes Store, you’ll need an account. You can use your .Mac account or an Apple ID your created for the Apple Store, or you can set up a new Apple Account. All you need is a valid email address to get started.

Making changes to your account information

Click Account to update your address, use a different credit card, view your purchase history, or make changes to your account information. You can also click the links under Account to buy or redeem gift certificates, and to set up an iTunes allowance.

Using your Apple ID to order prints and Apple products

The Apple ID you set up in iTunes can also be used in iPhoto to order prints and at the Apple Store to purchase Apple products online. For .Mac members, your Apple ID is also your .Mac membership ID. You only have to remember one password to use all the Apple services you want.

Steps

Sign in with an iTunes Store account

  1. Click the Sign In button in the top-right corner of the iTunes window. (If someone is already signed in, click the Account button and then click Sign Out.
  2. If you already have an Apple ID, .Mac, or AOL account, enter your account name and password, and then click Sign In.
  3. If you don’t have an account, click Create New Account. Follow the prompts to set up your account.
  4. Remember that your credit card number is tied to your Apple Account, so you should never give out your Apple ID and password.
