Adding a Photo Page

After you’ve started your website, you’ll want to build it out with new pages. With iWeb, you can add new pages in any order, and it’s easy to rearrange them at any time.

iWeb’s page templates give you the flexibility to add different types of pages and create a website full of your own media. A Photo Page is great place to showcase your pictures. You can drag individual photos, multiple photos or a whole album to your Photo Page.

Create a slideshow

The Photos template includes a Start Slideshow button that, when clicked, presents a slideshow of the photos on that page. If you delete the button you can add it again. Just select the webpage that uses the Photos template. Choose Insert, select a button from the drop down menu, and choose Start Slideshow.

Position photos in the photo grid

The Photos templates include a photo grid that automatically sizes and positions each photo as you add it, and provides a placeholder caption for each photo. You can easily move the photos and see your results in the photo grid right away.

Set your page navigation

iWeb automatically inserts a navigation menu on each page of your website. The navigation menu lists each page in your site as a clickable link, letting your visitors go directly to that page. As you add, delete, and reorganize pages on your site, the navigation menu updates automatically. You determine the order of the navigation menu links by rearranging pages in the site organizer.

Prevent a page from appearing in the navigation menu

You can prevent a page from appearing in the navigation menu so your visitors won’t see the page (unless you include a link to it on another page). You might want to prevent a page from appearing in the navigation menu if, for example, you’re not finished with the page when you publish the site. In the site organizer, select the page you don’t want to appear in the navigation menu. If the Page Inspector isn’t open, click Inspector in the toolbar, and then click the Page Inspector button. Deselect "Include in navigation menu."

Rearrange pages in your website

You can rearrange pages in your website at any time, and the navigation menu updates automatically. To rearrange pages, drag them up or down in the site organizer. You can even drag pages from one site to another.

Steps

Add a photo page to your website

Click the Add Page button in the bottom left corner to open the Template Chooser.
Select a template from the thumbnails on the right to for your new page and click Choose.
Click the iLife Media Browser and select the Photos tab.
Select individual photos, multiple photos, or a whole album and drag them over to the photo page.
Watch as the photos from your album replace all of the placeholder images.
Double-click the placeholder text at the top of the page and type your own text.
