1. How can I tell if my iPod needs service?
Visit our iPod support site or iPod nano support site for helpful troubleshooting information. If you
have reviewed the articles on the website, and you're still not sure whether your iPod requires
service, you can take your iPod to your local Apple retail store for diagnosis. Note: There may be a
fee for diagnostic service.
2. How do I get my iPod serviced?
Easy! If your iPod is still covered by Apple's Limited Warranty for iPod or APP for iPod, complete the
iPod service request form on our website. Once we receive your service request, we will send you a
shipping box including a prepaid preaddressed return shipping label so you can send your iPod to
us. Important information about preparing your shipment and the carrier to be used will be included
with your shipping box. Please note: a physical address is required. Apple cannot ship to PO
Boxes or APO Boxes. When we receive your iPod and confirm that the service request matches the
iPod's condition, we will send you a replacement iPod that may be new or refurbished. The
replacement iPod will be functionally equivalent to your iPod when new.

3. Will the data on my iPod be preserved?
No. You will receive a replacement iPod that will not contain any of your data, songs, or after-market
personalization. Please back up important files and remove all data from your defective iPod before
sending it to Apple. Please do not send any accessories with your iPod as they will not be returned.
4. Will my custom laser engraving on my iPod be preserved?
If your original iPod has a personalized engraving by Apple, you will have the option of having the
replacement iPod engraved with the same text or replaced by a non-personalized iPod (benefiting
from a faster service). If your original iPod was custom laser-engraved by another company, your
replacement iPod will not be personalized.
5. How long will my iPod service take?
If your iPod is not personalized, you can expect service to be completed within approximately one
week from the time you send your iPod to Apple. If your iPod is personalized, you can expect
service to be completed within approximately ten calendar days from the time you send your iPod to
Apple.
6. What is the status of my iPod service request?
You can check the status of your iPod service at any time on our easy repair status website.
1. How long is my iPod covered by Apple's warranty?
Your iPod is covered for one year by Apple's Limited Warranty for iPod. Warranty service for eligible repairs is available
at no charge for twelve months from the date of original retail purchase (”date of purchase”). A $29.95 shipping and handling fee will apply to all warranty repairs performed 180 days after date of purchase. If you have purchased an AppleCare Protection Plan for iPod ("APP for iPod"),
there will be no shipping and handling fee.
2. How can I tell if my iPod is in-warranty?
All iPods are covered by Apple's Limited Warranty for iPod for one year from the date of purchase.
To determine your warranty coverage enter the serial number of your iPod in the "About Your
Support Coverage" section on the Apple Support site. Apple may need to examine your proof of
purchase document to verify your iPod's warranty status.
3. How much will my in-warranty service be?
Warranty service for eligible repairs is available at no charge for twelve months from the date of
purchase. A $29.95 shipping and handling fee will apply to all warranty repairs performed 180
days after date of purchase. If you have purchased the APP for iPod, there will be no shipping and
handling fee. After you return your defective iPod, Apple will examine the iPod to confirm that the
failure is covered by Apple's warranty or APP for iPod.

4. What if I don't have a credit card?
If you do not have a credit card, please take your iPod to your local Apple Store location for help
with warranty service.
5. Can I extend service coverage on my iPod beyond the warranty?
APP for iPod extends the service and support coverage for the iPod, its included accessories, and
iTunes software to up to two years from the iPod date of purchase. APP for iPod must be purchased
while the iPod is covered under Apple's Limited Warranty for iPod.
6. My iPod warranty has expired. What are my service options?
Apple offers two service options for iPods that are no longer within warranty. If your iPod, iPod mini or iPod nano requires service only because the battery's ability to hold an electrical charge has diminished, Apple will replace your iPod for a service fee of $59, plus $6.95 shipping.
If your iPod touch requires service only because the battery's ability to hold an electrical charge has diminished, Apple will replace your iPod for a service fee of $79, plus $6.95 shipping.

7. What kind of activities will void my warranty?
Apple's Limited Warranty for iPod excludes coverage for damage resulting from accident,
unauthorized service and unauthorized modifications. Please review the warranty for further details.
8. Does Apple's warranty cover my iPod service?
If Apple provides service under warranty, the terms of the warranty and applicable provisions of law
will cover defects in materials and workmanship that arise during the warranty or 90 days after iPod
service, whichever provides longer coverage for you. If iPod service is provided outside of warranty,
Apple warrants that the replacement iPod will be free from defects in materials and workmanship
for 90 days from the date of the iPod service.
1. One of my iPod accessories isn't working. Can I order a replacement?
Yes. Complete the iPod service request form on our website. You may be charged for the
replacement accessory, local taxes and $6.95 for shipping, if your iPod is no longer covered by
Apple's Limited Warranty for iPod. You may also visit the Apple iPod Store to find the accessory that
