Visit our iPod shuffle support site for helpful troubleshooting information. you have reviewed the articles on the website, and you're still not sure whether your iPod requires service, you can take your iPod to your local Apple retail store or Apple Authorised Service Provider, where available. Note: There may be a fee for diagnostic service.

2. How do I get my iPod shuffle serviced?
It's easy! Use the Online Service Assistant. Once we receive your service request, we will send you a replacement iPod shuffle, together with instructions on how to return your defective iPod shuffle to Apple. Please package your defective iPod shuffle in the same shipping box and return it to Apple within 10 business days to avoid being charged the cost of the replacement.

3. Will the data on my iPod shuffle be preserved?
No. You will receive a replacement iPod shuffle that will not contain any of your data, songs, or after-market personalizations. If your iPod shuffle was personalized by Apple, your replacement will be personalized with the same text. Please back up important files and remove all data from your defective iPod shuffle before sending it to Apple. Please do not send any accessories with your iPod as they will not be returned.

4. How long will my iPod shuffle service take?
Your service will take approximately one week from the time you set up service.

1. How long is my iPod shuffle covered by Apple’s warranty?
Your iPod shuffle is covered by Apple’s One-Year Limited Warranty. Warranty service for eligible repairs is available at no charge for twelve months from the date of purchase (date of purchase).

2. How can I tell if my iPod shuffle is in-warranty?
Your iPod shuffle is covered by Apple’s One-Year Limited Warranty for twelve months from its original date of purchase. Apple may need to examine your proof of purchase document to verify your iPod shuffle warranty status.

3. How much will my in-warranty service be?
Warranty service for eligible repairs is available at no charge for twelve months from the date of purchase (date of purchase). See iPod Repair Pricing for details. After you return your defective iPod shuffle, Apple will examine the unit to confirm that the unit has failed and that the failure is covered by Apple’s warranty or AppleCare Protection Plan for iPod ("APP for iPod"). If your returned iPod shuffle has failed, but the failure is not covered by Apple’s warranty or APP for iPod, (e.g. accidental damage), you will be charged the cost of the replacement iPod shuffle provided to you.

4. My iPod shuffle is in-warranty. Why do I need to provide a credit card number?
Under the terms of Apple’s One Year Limited Warranty and the AppleCare Protection Plan for iPod, Apple may provide service to you by exchanging your defective iPod shuffle with a new, used or refurbished replacement. If you request warranty service, Apple will provide you with a replacement iPod shuffle in advance of receiving your defective unit. You will be asked to provide a major credit card to secure the return of the defective iPod shuffle. If you do not return the defective iPod shuffle to Apple within 10 business days of receiving your replacement, Apple will charge you for the replacement.

5. What if I don't have a credit card?
If you do not have a credit card, please take your iPod shuffle to your local Apple retail store or Apple Authorised Service Provider, where available, for warranty service.

6. Can I extend service coverage on my iPod shuffle beyond the warranty?
The AppleCare Protection Plan for iPod shuffle extends the service and support coverage for the iPod shuffle, its included accessories, and iTunes software to up to two years from the original purchase date of the iPod shuffle. The AppleCare Protection Plan for iPod shuffle must be purchased while your iPod shuffle is covered under Apple’s One-Year Limited Warranty.

7. My iPod shuffle warranty has expired. What are my service options?
Apple offers two service options for iPod shuffles that are no longer within warranty. If your iPod shuffle requires service only because the battery's ability to hold an electrical charge has diminished, you can have the battery replaced for a service fee by using the Online Service Assistant or at your local Apple retail store or Apple Authorised Service Provider, where available.

If your iPod requires service for any other issue, Apple will replace your iPod for a service fee. We recommend that you use the Online Service Assistant or take your iPod to our local Apple retail store or Apple Authorised Service Provider, where available to make service arrangements.

Replacement iPods may be new, used or refurbished. Service may not be available if your iPod shuffle has been damaged due to accident or abuse. Please review Apple's Repair Terms and Conditions for further details.

8. What kind of activities will void my warranty?
Apple’s One-Year Limited Warranty excludes coverage for damage resulting from accident, abuse, misuse or unauthorized service. Please review the warranty for further details.

In the event that your returned iPod shuffle has failed due to damage resulting from accident, abuse, misuse or unauthorized service, Apple may charge your credit card a service fee plus shipping. All fees are in local currency and are subject to local tax, plus any applicable sales tax. See Apple's Repair Terms and Conditions for details.

9. Does Apple’s warranty cover my iPod shuffle service?
If a replacement iPod shuffle is provided under warranty, the replacement will be warranted against defects for the remaining term of the warranty or 90 days after service, whichever provides longer coverage for you. If a replacement iPod shuffle is provided outside of warranty, Apple warrants the replacement against defects for 90 days from the date of service.
