What image settings should I use when preparing my images for printing?

Although iPhoto and Aperture accept other file formats, your images should be in JPEG/JPG file format for the best results when ordering photo products using iPhoto or Aperture. You can use an image editor to convert your image file into this common file format. Also, the image should be in RGB mode, not CMYK. There is no maximum size limit for image files, however larger files can take longer to transfer, and there is a greater chance the image might be corrupted during the transfer process. There is no benefit to submitting larger file sizes.

How do I make sure my prints are not cropped incorrectly during processing?

Each print size has its own slightly different rectangular shape, known as the aspect ratio. For example, an 8 x 10 print is proportionately taller and narrower than a 4 x 6 print. To make your image fit these different print shapes, photo labs usually enlarge the image slightly and crop out what doesn't fit.
For the best results, you should crop your images to the same aspect ratio as the print size you are ordering.

Can Apple print on both sides of the pages in my book?

Yes, double-sided printing is available for users of versions of iPhoto 5 or later, and Aperture.
If you're using an older version of iPhoto, in order to take advantage of this feature, you'll need to upgrade to the most current version of iLife. The iLife package is available by calling the Apple Store at 800-MY-APPLE, at the Apple Store online, and Apple Authorized Resellers, or your local retail Apple Store.

What is the minimum picture resolution for receiving quality photo products?

Your images will print best when you submit an appropriate file size for your product. While there is a minimum recommended resolution for all of our products, keep in mind that bigger is not always better.

What does the Alert mean?

This symbol will appear in iPhoto or Aperture to warn you that you have chosen an image that has low-resolution, or that the custom text you have entered in a book, card or calendar does not fit in the space allotted.
