After using it and having a play, it works with the following apps (the list is not exhaustive) - Netflix, BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, Demand 5 and YouTube. It does not work with 4OD (their fault not Apples) and apparently Sky (Apple Specialist informed me of this before purchase, but since I do not have Sky I was not bothered). The picture is very clear and the sound quality very good, if you want to use your iPad for streaming through your tv then this is the adapter to buy.

Outrageously expensive, worked OK, but now cuts out if you move it

Why did Apple not mould the Lightning connector into the other end of the block so as to give a strong and rigid design. Most HDMI cables are heavy so inevitably the short stiff piece of cable that connects to the Lightning plug will be under bending loads however careful you are, and hence they fail early. Mine has lasted about 6 months and now cuts out if you so much as touch it - as have many other peoples if you read all the negative reviews. It actually worked very well before it started to break which is all the more frustrating. Shame on you Apple, selling expensive, poorly designed and badly made rubbish as accessories for your otherwise excellent kit. And there is no alternative source available as you have a monopoly. You should and can be so much better than this.

      Expensive failure

I bought one of these in January and while it worked well initially, after 8 months it just stopped working. If I had paid £5 for one from China I might not be I bought one of these in January and while it worked well initially, after 8 months it just stopped working. If I had paid £5 for one from China I might not be surprised, but at over £30 for a genuine Apple product, this is just not good enough. I am now trying to get a refund/replacement but have little faith that another one will do much better, particularly having read so many recent reviews showing these failing after only hours of use. I used to think Apple produced a high quality product but my experience with this leaves me very much in doubt and I would be reluctant to spend any significant sum on any of their products if this is the level of quality I can expect.

      It's okay,

I used it for my iPad Pro, it works fine with TV progammes with iTunes and Netflix. So far the only app that didn't work is Sky Go. Otherwise it's working fine.

      Perfect for my use

I bought this simply to be able to mirror my iPad screen onto a large tv. I rent films from iTunes onto my iPad and iPhone. Watching a film on an iPhone is less I bought this simply to be able to mirror my iPad screen onto a large tv. I rent films from iTunes onto my iPad and iPhone. Watching a film on an iPhone is less than ideal so this cable allows me to watch films (or my photos and videos) on a large screen. For that purpose this cable is perfect.
