Apple Research & Technology Support
ARTS Laureate - A Window of Science Research Opportunity
The ARTS programme is designed to make Apple technology more accessible to Europes young scientists. The programme offers young researchers the chance to become an ARTS Laureate and receive US$30,000 worth of Apple solutions to research technology problems, in the form of hardware, software and support.
Potential candidates must have a postgraduate qualification and be employed by a public-funded science research institution. Each candidate must submit a detailed proposal for a research project, specifying its aims, the likely impact in its own and/or related fields, how the Apple computing solution is intended to be used, and the timescale for the project.
Apple is now an extremely effective development environment and we know it is likely to be very cost effective.

The proposed project should lead to original results, publishable in the public domain. Candidates will be expected to deliver status updates, probably six monthly, dependent on the nature and complexity of the project.
The candidates own institutions will be asked to appraise proposals initially, and produce a final selection from their researcher applicants.
The candidate selected as ARTS Laureate must use Apple solutions to directly support the submitted project proposal. The project, researcher(s) and their institution(s) will be featured as Science Profiles in Apple external publicity.
Community of Science Researchers in Europe
The ARTS programme is more than just a one-off prize. It is also a community of researchers and their science institutions. Members of that community qualify for substantial discounts on Apple products.
The community also gets direct access to Apples Systems Engineers on a dedicated network. Researchers are able to collaborate and exchange information with their peers, and gain expert advice on common and individual technology problems.
The ARTS programme will evolve in response to the research communitys needs and wishes. Apple encourages feedback and new ideas from the community, with the simple aim of providing technology solutions today that effectively support the discoveries of tomorrow.
