Apple 60W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter (MacBook Pro with 13-inch Retina display)

  • Overview

The 60W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter features a magnetic DC connector so if someone should trip over it, the cord disconnects harmlessly and your MacBook Pro stays put safely. It also helps prevent fraying or weakening of the cables over time. In addition, the magnetic DC helps guide the plug into the system for a quick and secure connection.

When the connection is secure, an LED located at the head of the DC connector lights up; an amber light lets you know that your notebook is charging, while a green light tells you that you have a full charge. An AC cord is provided with the adapter for maximum cord length, while the AC wall adapter (also provided) gives you an even easier and more compact way to travel.

Designed to be the perfect traveling companion, the adapter has a clever design which allows the DC cable to be wound neatly around itself for easy cable storage.

Compatible with MacBook Pro with 13-inch Retina display.

      Poor show from Apple

I completely concur with the previous Gentleman's comments; we have a MacBook Pro and a Mac Book air and have gone through two cables in less than two years. I I completely concur with the previous Gentleman's comments; we have a MacBook Pro and a Mac Book air and have gone through two cables in less than two years. I have an old Dell laptop which has been carried all around the world and the cable is still going strong 4 years on - Apple it is a very poor show. At £65 a cable it is pure day light robbery!

      Not robust

The power adaptor looks good and the magnetic connection is a great idea as it prevents the laptop being pulled off a desk or surface. However, the unit itself The power adaptor looks good and the magnetic connection is a great idea as it prevents the laptop being pulled off a desk or surface. However, the unit itself is of poor build quality and easily breaks - usually through the wire splitting as it comes out of the adaptor. When this happens the unit has to be replaced. For £65 I expect a much better build quality.

      It's a rubbish product.

The laptop end of the cable split in a couple of places after about 2.5 years' use. Most other laptop power supplies live 5-10 years. I've used this power sup The laptop end of the cable split in a couple of places after about 2.5 years' use. Most other laptop power supplies live 5-10 years. I've used this power supply very carefully. It appears that the splits have occurred at the point I've most often used the integrated plastic clip to keep the cable tidy and out of harm's way. So the product has basically broken itself, exposing an electrical hazard, being used in the way it was intended. No way am I paying almost 80 quid for something this poorly designed. I'd like to own my laptop, not rent it from Apple at the £40/year it'll cost to keep it powered. Sheesh, Apple. Anyway, electrical tape has been keeping me safe for a couple of months, but I'm going to try Sugru next. I'll make sure I choose a nice visible colour so people who see me using my laptop in public know that some of Apple's stuff needs patching up with sticky tape after a bit of use. I'll also say that the material the cable is made from must have been carefully designed in a lab to attract all nearby dirt. Takes about a month for it to look like a 30-year-old printer cable.

      Such a bad design

Why would you have the charger connection sticking out at over a cm from the MacBook where it can easily takes knocks and weaken. The MagSafe1 wasn't perfect bu Why would you have the charger connection sticking out at over a cm from the MacBook where it can easily takes knocks and weaken. The MagSafe1 wasn't perfect but I never had the same splitting I've had on the MagSafe2. Today the lead finally split as I connected it and it sparked and **** did that hurt!!! I'm now going to have to spend £79 on a replacement because someone thought this was a good design, I'm assuming they get a decent cut for every replacement lead developed. And surely I could just replace the section that doesn't work. It comes in two parts, the plug end is fine, couldn't we produce a little less waste by not having to replace the whole thing?! Does Apple have some sort of recycling programme for the needless waste this poor design is creating?! Please redesign this lead so that it not only reduces the risk of the MacBook crashing to the floor but also the lead doesn't deteriorate faster than the life of the product!
