Overview

The USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter lets you connect your MacBook with USB-C port to an HDMI display, while also connecting a standard USB device and a USB-C charging cable.

This adapter allows you to mirror your MacBook display to your HDMI-enabled TV or display in up to 1080p at 60Hz or UHD (3840x2160) at 30Hz. It also outputs video content like films and captured video. Simply connect the adapter to the USB-C port on your MacBook and then to your TV or projector via an HDMI cable (sold separately).

Use the standard USB port to connect devices such as your flash drive or camera, or a USB cable for syncing and charging your iPhone, iPad or iPod. You can also connect a charging cable to the USB-C port to charge your MacBook.

Note: The Apple USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter is not compatible with the G-Tech G-DRIVE mobile USB 3.0 Hard Drive (Apple part number HF4F2VC/A).

bulky and expensive

Although it works fine it is bulky and the design ill considered, and rather more expensive than an Apple TV this rather essential item allows you to connect a Although it works fine it is bulky and the design ill considered, and rather more expensive than an Apple TV this rather essential item allows you to connect a USB 3 to your MacBook, but it's terribly bulky especially when you only want to connect a USB device for a few minutes to swap files. This slightly defeats the wonder of having such a slim package as the wonderful MacBook. Hopefully they will get around to doing a USB 3 stick to USB C sometime soon... meanwhile us early adopters feel foolish

Does not recognise USB3 drive

I bought this alongside my MacBook so that I could backup my Mac. I now discover that this adapter is not compatible with USB 3.0 drives. Disappointed that th I bought this alongside my MacBook so that I could backup my Mac. I now discover that this adapter is not compatible with USB 3.0 drives. Disappointed that this isn't mentioned on the packaging, nor was the information volunteered when I bought it.

Only charges phone through USB port when connected to a computer. If you plug this into the USB C charger (that came with Macbook) you can't directly charge yo Only charges phone through USB port when connected to a computer.
