  • An Ethernet cable is for data transfer usually over a network, rather than a direct connection. If you wished, you could connect both devices using two of these adapters (assuming they can both support thunderbolt) to a network, then transfer the data. Otherwise, for convenience, a cloud based solution for temporary storage may be a faster, easier and cheaper solution. Of course, a MBP would normally have an ethernet connection, particularly with any older models.
