Yet another step forward from Apple.

    • Written by from Preston

The Magic Mouse is as good to hold and use as at is to look at.

The scroll is vastly better than the ball on the previous mouse.

I do miss squeezing for Exposé and pressing the ball for application switching but the improved scrolling and better right click more than compensate.

    New mouse arrived today...

    • Written by from Henley on Thames

Beautiful and does the job better than I thought.

Previously being a PC user for 15 years the right-click function is comforting. The rest of it is delicious! Looks great, functions perfectly and worked straight out of he box, so I love it!

Need to find a small soft case for it, so if anyone has ideas, let me know.

    A splendid mouse

    • Written by from Shalford

I replaced a Mighty Mouse with this Magic Mouse six weeks ago - and configured it to use Expose almost straight away. Working on an (older) iMac but running Mac OS X 10.6.2, it is simple to set up and configure, works exactly as advertised, and has revolutionised my use of standard applications. I also use a MacBook Pro for travelling and the Magic mouse is at least as good as the trackpad on the Pro -- in fact I take it with me when travelling, just because I like the "look and feel". Battery life seems fine (better than my previous "Apple Wireless Mouse") and multi-finger "swiping" -- though requiring a short learning curve -- has now become second nature; so much so that when forced to use a standard 2- or 3-button mouse on other machines, I regularly find myself multi-touch "swiping" and becoming frustrated when it doesn't work :-)

Expose IS available on the magic mouse, but WITH the right software!

Google better touch tool, its free and allows you to add expose and other gestures to the magic mouse very easily. Even application specific gestures.

Without this 3rd party software, I admit the mouse was nothing more than a gimmick, however with it, there's no doubt in my mind that the magic mouse becomes the most powerful and versatile mouse in the world.

Way to miss a trick Apple, get a clue and add this functionality with a software update!

Thankyou so much to the guy that found MagicPrefs (google it)

Once you've downloaded magicprefs for free this mouse suddenly becomes the greatest mouse out there.. not only does it speed up the tracking (which is what I found the most frustrating with this mouse) but it also brings back 'the middle button' to bring up the dashboard (which I use so often on the old mouse) also has many other features including a 'three or four button click' which you can customise.. I've gone with three buttons for Expose, four buttons for Spaces :)

Highly recommend this mouse.. it's awesome anyway with it's slick design, touch sensitive scroll etc but remember to download MagicPrefs.. again Thankyou for the guy who had mentioned this in his previous comment.

Great mouse, not so great software. BUT IT'S FIXABLE!!!

    • Written by from Barnsley

I was astonished when this mouse came out, I love my iPhone and using the technology in a mouse just seemed amazing, especially since my Mighty Mouse rollerball keeps sticking.

And it is GREAT! The beautiful design, the sleek finish, the right click and scrolling feature work a dream and no moving parts mean there's no breakdown from dust or sweat.

One problem, there's no expose option, only a navigation swipe that I never use. The guys at Apple suggest HotCorners but that's no good. Why Apple have created a superior product with endless possibilities without creating the software made to reap from them I don't know.

So basically it's an amazing mouse with only one hiccup which is easily solved by MagicPrefs, great!!!
Thanks Apple, I love it. But make your own next time :D

Great mouse and here's how to use it with Expose!

    • Written by from Willingham

After battling with a sticky track ball on a wireless mighty mouse for a couple of years, Santa decided to reward me with a Magic Mouse. I am so glad he did - it really is a fantastic product. I love the smooth feel of the top, left and right clicks work perfectly and the scrolling function of the multi-touch surface is just amazing (up, down, left right). The laser tracking is amazingly accurate and negates the need for a mouse mat. I too was worried about the lack of Expose buttons, but a very easy work around for this is to set up 'active corners' in Expose and Spaces prefs so that when you drag the mouse pointer to one corner of the screen, it opens expose! Simple...
The only thing I am not convinced about is the two finger swipe as the gesture is not that natural (yet). Overall another superbly innovative Apple product - Get One!

I liked my Mighty Mouse, but this is much better. It works beautifully smoothly, easy to control, and glides more easily on my desk. But the single overriding feature which makes it great is the ability with one flick of the finger to scroll all the way up or down a long web page or list of emails. No more scrabbling furiously with the scroll wheel or having to click and click on the side-bar. Truly a great step forward in user experience. This alone makes it worth the price. Thanks, Apple.

This product should win some sort of award!
    In a word, its Brilliant.

A lot of people are complaining about its standard limited functionality, yes it is surprising that apple have ignored the potential of this device, but some bright spark has developed a free application that expands the functionality of the magic mouse beyond no bounds! for example, you can now use expose, spaces, dashboard, app switcher, right, left middle click all just by making different gestures or using different fingers! It even surpasses the mighty mouse with the use of "magic prefs"

Its really just an amazing product. I actually prefer the feel of it to the older one too.
    You wont regret buying it!

    Great first impressions

    • Written by from Uppingham

The mighty mouse had to go - terrible design with that pimple ball thing always getting clogged up and not working. Anyway I was a little nervous with the Magic Mouse as I tent to get RSI and pains elsewhere in my arm but I'm actually pleasantly surprised. You hold the mouse so lightly and every movement is so delicate it just feels beautiful to use.

Some people are complaining about lack of Expose etc but there are numerous apps out there that add to the functionality of the mouse. Some of those inclue MagicPrefs and BetterTouchTool. These both allow you to add lots more gestures to set up shortcuts. The problem is remembering what shortcut is what!

A great bit of kit and I wish I'd have made the switch sooner.

    A Great bit of kit

    • Written by from LONDON

I've only just got this today, but already I love it. The roller ball on my old mouse was driving me mad; scrolling down but not up. This was a breeze to install & yes it doesn't have the Expose function, but you've got the active screen corners for that. Along with the wireless keyboard that I also bought, my desk is now wire free & I'm a happy man with a only medium sized dent in my credit card!

Magic Mouse - Best Mouse Yet!!

    • Written by from Havant

I received the Magic Mouse as a Christmas gift and as a replacement for my old Mighty Mouse. The initial set up was extremely easy and quick, which was good. The mouse is lower to the desk than previous mice that I have used, so took a little longer to get used to. The multi-touch functions are brilliant and work perfectly. I would thoroughly recommend this mouse to anyone thinking of purchasing one!!!

The magic mouse is brilliant, its sleek, comfortable and responsive. The only flaw is the use of expose which has not been fitted, that is not a problem as it is all fixed through the touch sensitive body. By far my favourite gesture is the two fingered swipe to either go forwards or backwards whilst surfing the internet. Well done Apple.
