    The nearly mouse

    • Written by from Rotherham

It's nearly, but yet so far for this product. The features are in a league of their own - you must of course download maigicprefs to utilize them fully.
But, sadly the shape is so wrong it is untrue. Far too flat and not contoured to the hand.
A totally different hand/arm position is required. RSI sufferers beware of prolonged use with this mouse.
Also, the edges........virtually SHARP to touch, ugh. Do yourself a favour and do as I did - smooth the edges off with fine grade wet and dry paper from your DIY store.
Tape up the edge gap first and watch for the fine plastic dust getting on the botom, tape that too. The difference is it makes when done is REMARKABLE.
Apple must go back to a shape more like the Mighty Mouse, now that's the perfect shape.
    A 9/10 product. But the shape is a 1/10.
Apple must redesign with a new version.
Until then everybody - you can find a silicone pad to fix on it.
Bit it won't cure it for everyone.

    Magic indeed

i love my magic mouse. I never get a painful wrist when using it, normally a problem with me. It just seems like an extension of my hand. I personally don't like a lot of buttons so the simplicity suits me well. The two fingered side swipe for moving back a page in Safari is brilliant. The only criticism i have is that the scroll is a bit over sensitive when used in Google Maps and a number of similar programs. that is why I have only given it four stars

    Great little product!!!

I recently bought the iMac which the magic mouse came with as standard. The mouse is freaking brilliant, haven't had any trouble with connection, or battery problems. The mouse is different and can be difficult but it is perfect for me.

Great mouse and improves on previous model

    • Written by from West Wickham

I have had this mouse for a few weeks now and am very happy with it. Yes, the lack of expose function took some getting used to, but I just had to familiarise myself with a few more keyboard shortcuts which is no bad thing. The touch functionality is great. The tracking is very clear, I've not had any glitches despite having used it on several different surfaces.

I find too that the left/right click sensor is better than on the mighty mouse (now apple mouse) that I had for almost two years previously. Aside from the dust problems with that, I also found that sometimes the sensors would play up. But I've had no problems so far with the left/right detection when I have clicked - it always gives me the correct one!! But that of course is to be expected. Very enjoyable mouse to use, the integration of touch techonology was such a logical next step, and it has worked very well.

please do not buy this mouse

    • Written by from Solihull

okay so the plus sides: it looks amazing - it feels amazing to use - its multitouch functions (im guessing they will gradually release more) are seemless. so far so good.

but i guess the main problem, main major problem i should say, is that this mouse crashed every - single - minute. the slightest tap of this mouse against your keyboard, or imac or mug of coffee or anything, and its gone. sure it takes like 3 seconds to connect back up again but we're talking the smallest knocks. i'm not saying i've been dropping this mouse from a great height, im literally talking maybe 3mm off my desk.

please be aware, i - am - not - exaggerating. save yourself the money. i wish i did.

    Lots of trouble

New and elegant doesn't mean better. Getting the Magic Mouse is like getting a program update with all the well known menu bottons changed so you must waste hours relearning it. After two days I just hated this new mouse, delivered it back and got a refund.

    A great improvement

I really like the trackpad on my laptop but constantly pressing the button with my thumb sideways is starting to take its toll. This is a great alternative, the same silky smooth action as a trackpad but in a mouse. I've owned its predecessor which I've found very good but it often misses out on a right-click and has troubles with shiny surfaces plus the ball at the top needs cleaning often.

This has none of the disadvantages of the previous mouse, it's not too heavy either. It seems able to reconnect itself even after the laptop has been put to sleep.

The only disadvantage is that it will occasionally scroll a window that you wasn't intending to scroll, it's not by much but takes some getting used to. Saying that it could simply be down to the way I use it.

Great - a lot better than the apple mouse

    • Written by from Cambridge

Bought this product a couple of days ago. I am quite impressed. The scrolling is brilliant and because it does not have a ball to do the scrolling I presume that function will not seize up as in the case of the apple mouse.
Some have mentioned that the magic mouse does not "fit" into the palm of your hand very well. I have got small hands and this works great!
The 2 finger scroll is useless and takes some effort to get it right.

    Mine just died.....
So now I'm back with the old Logitech which I've used for ages before switching to Mac. This is just the latest in a series of incidents that all adds up to my returning to PC and throwing Mac out for good.

I took to this new mouse like a duck to water. Very intuitive, easy to use and it does react in the way the nice glossy apple vids show. I disgarded previous generations of apple mice for an alternative, however on this occasion, I'll be sticking with my new little friend !!

    Pure Magic

I asked for this for a long time then finally got it for Christmas. It looked brilliant, felt brilliant and worked brilliantly. The battery life was long too! The only downside is it didn't two finger swipe through albums on itunes but over all a great piece of kit to add to your mac.

    The wireless mouse

    • Written by from Ashton Under Lyne

I have moved to mac 6 months ago, and it is fantastic, today I bought the new magic mouse and what a pleasure it is to use, turned the mac on and 30 seconds later it was up and running, and it is a pleasure to use, Yes I am new to mac but I must say I love it, no more slow unreliable windows, If you looking for a great mouse just go and try one they are great. yes I know its not cheap, but when you pick it up you can feel the build and quality and its so easy to use, I suffer from arthritis and when I tested the mouse my hands were swollen and I had no problems at all holding it and using it.

Magic Mouse - definitely not magical

    • Written by from Chorley

Having just purchased a Magic Mouse to go with a Mac Pro I was very disappointed with it. On connecting the mouse and downloading the updated software I immediately found that I couldn't open folders by double clicking. When I reconnected the existed wired mouse the same problem existed. I have wasted the last day having to reinstall the complete system software and back-up all my work. When I tried it with the wired mouse it was working perfectly once again. Connected the 'magic' mouse and the same thing happened again. Wasted another day having to reinstall software and back up all items. A magical waste of time and money

    What compatability issues?

    • Written by

I was very lucky to receive a magic mouse for Christmas last year, and since that day I have never had a single issue with it. Another review on here gave this mouse a 1* rating on the premise that it did not work with the Mac Pro. All I can say is that this is quite simply untrue; I have a Mac Book Pro and an old G4, both of which work a treat with the magic mouse - the G4 running tiger (although you cannot use the finger sweep functions as there aren't the correct Drivers for Tiger, but hey its 2 OS's out of date).

The only negative is that I now have to buy my dad one!

    Finally, back to mac simplicity!

    • Written by from GLOUCESTER

I have been using mac's since they first landed! Throughout all progressions, the simple one touch mouse has been an icon and easy to use… but then came the 'mighty mouse! terrible, over complicated and pandering to the PC cross overs.

I even went as far as buying a couple of spare white single button mice in case mine ever gave up the ghost as there was no way I could get on with the 'mighty mouse'.

So when I got my new iMac I was ready to sell the new and untested magic mouse on eBay and plug in my nice cosy old USB baby.

However, I gave it a try and was very, very pleasantly surprised, it was great, enough functions without going OTT and with the feel of the old single touch mouse! Brilliant!

The scroll function is perfect and natural, (just hated that micro ball on the mighty mouse!).

The Magic Mouse really is excellent!

Good size and shape and battery length is ok, but I have rechargeable AA's standing by.

Getting another for work and selling my single button collectables instead.

    : )

    flawed mouse

    • Written by from Singapore

It has a number of bugs. sometimes it will not highlight text at first attempt. In excel it scrolls to the right of the spreadsheet for no reason and you then have to go to the scroll bar at the bottom to take you back to the left side.
apart from that it works well and battery life is good.

Its lovely except it gives you RSI!

    • Written by from Huntingdon

Finally a step forward in the evolution of the mouse, great idea.

Trouble is its too shallow so you end up clawing your hand to grip it where instead your palm rests on a (good) traditional mouse.

Still it appears everyone else loves it so perhaps I'm deformed... (wouldn't be the first time) Try it yourself because if you can cope with the shape its a great functional advance.
