Fell in love with it straight away

    • Written by from Great Yarmouth

Why all the negativity on this mouse. I really get on with this, its easy to use and love the intuitive nature of the gestures. I appreciate everyone is built differently and not all will find it comfortable but that can be said of every mouse ever produced. My one small observation is that the sensor on the bottom is set right at the top edge and not in the middle like most other similar mice. This can make fine positioning of the cursor less precise but if it is held a little further up towards the sensor then this negates the problem. When it dies I would certainly replace it with another.

Awesome mouse, would have got 5 stars if the battery life was a bit better. Other than that its great!

love it - but the battery life.....

    • Written by from London

It is a beautiful piece of kit and I find it very pleasant to use, the scrolling by finger tip is excellent, and it is far better than wireless mice used for other computers. But - the battery life is poor, and batteries must be replaced when voltage falls to 1.35 volts, which means they are still serviceable in flash guns or flashlights. Most rechargeable batteries are of little use because they only deliver about 1.36 volts when fully charged. However, I will try Apple batteries and charger

Not what I was expecting.. But surprisingly awesome.

I've had this mouse a few days now and needless to say it performs wonderfully. As always with Apple it looks great and even 'works on my Levis'.

Having said this I think its design lets it down somewhat. Apart from the lovely float and appropriate weight it felt as if there was something missing, it suddenly hit me, it's a bit too shallow for my liking. Yet I also think this is a conscious design choice they way I'm holding the mouse is much less stressful, instead of completely gripping a conventional mouse its sort of 'floats' between my thumb and ring and little finger. This essentially puts your hand in a naturally relaxed state where again it 'floats' within your hand rather than you naturally gripping onto it.

All in all its a great design, more than adequate feel, and the gesture support is quite simply very useful. Finally not only does it 'work on my Levis' is fits in the skinny pocket too so its great for blocking out cursor movement during a presentation and just clicking my pocket for the next animation/slide.

    It could be better....

This mouse is OK. It is well-designed, sleek, smooth, with good functionality, but why on Earth does it connect via Bluetooth?! The most insecure connection ever!
It could be much more preferable, if it connected to the macs internal Wifi connection, it would be perfect! But otherwise a good mouse.

Really satisfied with the Magic Mouse, from the multi touch gestures, to the elegant glass surface. The mouse is simply the best mouse I've ever used, because doing actions on this Magic Mouse with it's unique single button is a lot easier and faster than a normal conventional mouse with 3 buttons. I've had this mouse for almost 2 months now, and the batteries are topping at 50%, meaning I will eventually have to replace the batteries 3 times every year, this is pretty average for a mouse, so I don't see the reasons why this mouse is getting so any bad reviews?

    Magic Mouse

    • Written by from Bradford

Looks great, works great with the multi gestures, but I'm not using 24/7 so not sure if its prone to wrist ache as some people have said.

However I bought mine in June 2010, and its just broke in Jan 14. The mouse would not turn on any more. I took the mouse with the original receipt, and box back to apple store in hope that they might have replaced it. Amazingly they did! no questions asked! Shocked is not the word!

Let that be a lesson to all, keep boxes and receipts!

    Brilliant mouse, except for ..

    • Written by from DALTON-IN-FURNESS

Okay, it took me a while to get used to it as it is so different from most mice and perhaps it could be a little chunkier to fit my hand. But, after a week at most, I got to love it: no wheel or ball to gather dirt; intuitive actions [move, swipe, press] and, of course, a sleek design. It works beautifully.
My main beef is with battery life: I now have a set of six NiMH rechargeables and seem always to have to be have some on charge as they need changing so often. I am considering buying a Magic Mouse for my wife to replace her old, clogged up Mighty Mouse, but will I need yet more batteries ready? Or have Apple improved this since I bought mine three years ago?

Upon ordering a Mac, you get the option of Magic Mouse or TrackPad. I got the magic mouse despite having several mac compatible mouse that i was using with my windows previously.
When i first got the mouse. I tried to operate the mouse by lying my hand flat on the mouse (How stupid i looked) I have big hands and my hands practically covered it.
The mouse is very low like a High Priced Sports Car. Yet i still love it. And i now operate the mouse with my palm in the air. The mouse gets 5* But looses one as the acceleration is slow which can be a problem when playing online games etc. But once the speed of the pointer is high it helps. The touch interface of the mouse and just how brilliant it is amazes me everytime i use it.
Just like Apple, Another product unlike anything on the market!

It took me around a week to get used to this mouse as I previously used a much bigger Windows mouse, I also found the acceleration hard to handle, something that cannot be changed easily (only the speed can be adjusted in settings). However, once i got used to this I started to appreciate the mouse much more.

The build quality is simply excellent.

I'll dock a star because I needed to download the MagicPerfs app to get a middle click, something I find hard to live without. I feel that Apple should include this option as standard.

I probably prefer the Trackpad on my Macbook Pro but I find that after a while it plays havoc on my wrist, this to me is the next best thing, without the bad wrist.

I find this to be a very comfortable mouse to use with great functionality. I have used it at work for more than a year with a mac pro and it did sometimes disconnect, however with my macbook pro I don't have this problem at all and I am very pleased with it.

-It does drain batteries, but you use it a lot and its wireless... I don't understand why people are surprised by this??
-People who complain about functionality simply don't know how to set it up correctly.
-If it is connecting to other computers, you aren't using it right.
    -Better with laptops and desktops.

    Gorgeous mouse with great functionality

    • Written by from waterlooville

Got this yesterday to go with my Mac Mini and I took it like a duck to water. Was using a Microsoft mouse as a stop gap but this is much better. I love the extra functionality and was missing the back button using the Microsoft mouse with the Mac but now I swipe backwards and forwards with ease and zoom and all is groovy.

Others complain that it does stuff without asking it too and that it's too low to comfortably fit the palm of your hand. As far as I can see it's not meant too! I hold it with my thumb one side and my ring and pinky on the other with with my middle and index finger hovering above - perfect.

Bottom line is that it tracks well, the whole surface can scroll, and click and zoom and it gives the Mac the feel of an iPad or iPhone which is where I've come from so I love it.

Great for the MacBook, not great for the iMac

    • Written by from Cathair na Mart

I like the Magic Mouse, especially its built-in trackpad. When I travel with it (and the spare batteries and charger for safety's sake), it works great next to my MacBook Pro. But at home where i have an iMac and Thunderbolt display, I find the tracking is just too slow and unreliable to zip the cursor from the right edge of the right screen to the left edge of the other. I tried looking in settings for anything that would improve this... but at home I'm just using the wired Mighty Mouse because it performs better. For travelling, though, the Magic Mouse is... magic.

    Mouse of Magic

    • Written by from Uddingston

Great little ergonomic and tactile Apple mouse with more features than your standard PC mounse that works really well with my MacBook Air.
The features are lovely especially scrolling and web browsing.
Only downside is that the surface seems to scratch fairly easily so take care with it.

Great to use but battery life could be better

    • Written by from Cheltenham

I have been using this mouse for almost a year now andI love it. I saw in other reviews that people get annoyed by the swiping and other gestures you can use to scroll and zoom - mostly I love those although not all applications use the same direction for zoom (left/right or up/down). Generally I like them. You can switch those off in the control panel if you don't like them anyway.

The mouse is comfortable to use and has a lovely tactile feel to it. As there is no physical division on the surface I occasionally do a right click instead of a left click.

I do get often caught out by the battery life both alkaline and NiMH rechargeables and occasionally it loses bluetooth connection and then takes ages to reconnect. I rarely remember to switch the mouse off overnight but that would only save 8 hours in 24 and would still be be fairly poor.

And a word of warning, don't turn off your bluetooth connection just out of interest otherwise you will need your keyboard shortcuts to navigate back to the control panel and turn it on again or restart or use a wired pointing device (another mouse or graphics tablet).

Overall, using this mouse is such a good experience I would definitely recommend it despite the occasional drawbacks.

One of the coolest mouse ever. However not for gaming! Battery life is great if you use a proper battery, ie Energiser, not some cheap battery.

    The best mouse for macs

    • Written by from Copenhagen

I looove my Magic Mouse. Its seamless scrolling and regal multi-touch gestures works like a charm. I was disappointed by the battery life, and it is prone to fail if you abuse it, but it is worth it all. It is quite simply the best mouse for the mac.

    Decent mouse

    • Written by from London

I wanted a mouse to use as an alternative to the trackpad on my Macbook Pro and so went for the (very attractive imho) magic mouse. The ergonomics took a little bit of getting used to, but I now find it comfortable to use. The mouse is great for navigating in Safari and OS X Lion.

    A reposte

    • Written by from Bristol

I think this mouse is extremely useful. At first it took a little getting used to but now it is smooth and seamless. Also in response to the bad review I've just read. You certainly can change the speed of the traking/scrolling on the mouse in the settings so don't really understand the problem there.

Anyway. Very please with my mouse, my magic keyboard and Trackpad. I'm all chocked full of technology.

    Amazing Mouse, Only One Flaw

    • Written by from Hull

A beautiful mouse, simple as. Light, practical, has an incredible battery life [one week of continuous use and still at 100% battery life], and the simplicity of the trackpad surface is fantastic.

My only niggle, as pointed out in other reviews, is at time right clicking can be a pain. Accidentally opening applications and folders when all I wanted was a menu to pop up. Once you get the hang of where to press it becomes easier, but for such an advanced piece of multi-touch equipment, you shouldn't have to learn.

Other than that [which is the reason for it not being 5 stars], the best mouse I've ever used.
