    Good Remote

    • Written by from BODMIN

Remote is quite long, but I find its very easy to hold even though its quite narrow and very thin.

Easy to operate and set up to a device.

Easy to change the battery on.

Feels very well made, and is light.

Only 4 stars as it should be £10!

    Where is it?

Its lovely and works fine but i keep losing it down the sofa!
Seriously - this is a really small thin remote made slippy by being aluminium.
Good job i have the remote app on my phone and ipad or I'd be stuck and unable to watch apple tv!

    great looking, okay functionality

    • Written by from Leigh

great looking product and blends in well with my mac. i got it with my universal dock and it worked great but i was a bit disappointed that you couldn't scroll up or down to select movies or music but you could still navigate through menus? i found a way to use the remote from my amp to control the dock so i tried the apple remote with my iMac and it was well integrated with iTunes and i didn't even have to configure it witch was fantastic. sad to see front row go though as i was looking forward to it and it is a bit bad to still advertise this remote on the website saying that it opens up front row when it doesn't exist. still a great looking remote with some great functionalities.

The remote looks amazing and compliments any mac! Works well with XBMC!
The remote was massively overpackaged though and definately wouldn't have fit through a letterbox

    Waste of plastic !!!

Love the product can't fault it in any way, love how it's made out of aluminium so easily recycled so why oh why sell it in thick plastic packaging which could easily house the remotes innards ? ? ?

    Great Remote, Great Price

    • Written by from Reading

I was a little bit surprised when i saw how much the price was on hearing a new apple remote was released. I was expecting a £20+ price tag considering how expensive apple are now a days. But seeing on how simple it is, and with no added functions, £15 is very reasonable. It feels solid and light at the same time which makes it good to use, looks sleek, (as we expect from apple) and makes using you mac even easier to watch movies, listen to music or whatever. Works with the DVD player as well as iTunes obviously, and is ready to go straight out of the box as soon as you point it at your mac. It's quite good if you use your TV as a larger alternative screen so you can control it at a distance so you don't have to spend loads on a long hdmi cable to control what your doing from afar (which is why i bought it)
Just wish it had a magnet to go with the new iMacs, its something the older model did.

    Great Product

I love using front row and think thus remote just makes it 100 times better. However when I have my iPhone 3GS plugged in using the dock and I press play on the remote it plays music not only of my Mac but it also plays the music of my iPhone 3GS. I don't however know if apple have fixed this problem with the new iPhone 4 but all in all a brilliant product. Well Done Apple. Also it feels really sleek and it looks great. :-)

    1st Gen users

I Just purchased this new remote from the Apple Store in Cardiff. While the new remote is quite aesthetic looking and blends in well with the colours of a Unibody Macbook or Macbook pro, there really is no reason to purchase this product if you have the previous generation remote.

For some bizarre reason i thought I needed a remote that matched the aluminium of my unibody macbook. Now I've actually used it and discovered there are no new features and the remote behaves exactly the same as the previous gen, I actually prefer the smaller design of the old remote.

Save your self some cash and stick with your previous remote, assuming you have one. If you don't currently own a remote; both remotes are very handy for Keynote/ Powerpoint presentations and not just for accessing your macs front row features.

Great Remote - shame no scrolling

    • Written by from Higham

The new Apple remote is a great upgrade to the previous generation. It feels great in your hand (much more refined and comfortable) and really compliments my Aluminium MacBook Pro, Wired Keyboard and Magic Mouse.

I am disappointed the wheel isn't an iPod scroll as I was led to believe by not one but two Apple Store online reps - however for £15 this is a no brainer purchase for any owner of an Apple product that supports IR.

One word of caution - "sock it" or keeps it in the case as if you slap it in your Laptop bag it may scratch the contents - especially your iPod screens.

4 Star rating due to my two misleading conversations with the normally well versed and knowledgeable store staff. Cool product tho!
