    Contrary to Other peoples reviews..

    • Written by from Hemel Hempstead

Ive had this camera connector since the 1st Gen iPad came out and I've never had an issue with the results its always connected fine with my iPad and surprisingly the iPad could even read my RAW files from a Samsung NX10, a Nikon D5100 and now my Nikon D800, I cannot vouch for any other cameras as I havent tried them with it, I usually plug the SD card in rather than the camera wire, although transfer speeds seem pretty much the same.
I'm planning to upgrade my iPad when the new one comes out early 2013 which i assume will use the lightning adapter like in the new iPhone so i suppose i'll have to get a new adapter, its just a shame you cant use this adapter with the iPhone 4S but all in all i think this is a good product and fits my needs.

    Good but pricey

    • Written by from High Wycombe

Unlike a lot of other reviewers, I have found this device to work well. I have used it with a Fuji Coolpix and a Canon EOS 7D without issue. I would give it 5 stars, but the £25 price tag seems a bit steep.

    Works perfectly!

    • Written by from Southend on sea

Got this today and it works perfectly. I have absolutely no idea why this has so many negative reviews!
I first tried my Sandisk SD card and it worked perfectly first time. Then I tried my Sony a SLR via USB and again, worked perfectly. Then my Canon Powershot SX 220 via USB, and again worked perfectly.
I'm not sure if previous problems have been caused by old iOS versions (my iPad 2 is running iOS 5.0.1), but I really don't understand the negative reviews.
This makes the iPad 2 perfect, so if you're considering buying it, go for it. I'm really very glad I did!!

    Camera connection kit

    • Written by from Trimley st Mary

Dont buy this if you use sansdisk sd cards I have tried ultra, extreme and a blue label class 4 none work! It would be nice if apple could tell us what brand of card does actually work?! Luckily my canon 1d mk3 connects with the USB module, but this doesn't help when I am shooting a job because rather than popping the sd card out from the camera to the camera connecting kit, place a new sd in the camera and keep shooting whilst the transfer is carried out, I am now stuck with not being able to shoot the camera whilst the transfer takes place! And the transfer rate is not particularly fast! So it makes the connection kit a complete waste for the working tog! What's even more frustrating is that it used to work on an older version of ios, why apple decided to change is anyone's guess? Was hoping ios5 would get this resolved but no it doesn't!

Imports images no problem - 1* review by MM is not the whole story

    • Written by from Huntingdon

I have a iPad 2 with OS5, the camera connection kit works fine with my collection of ageing Canons, Kodaks, and Nikons.

The problem MM reports is only an issue if your camera insists on being powered by the PC when downloading images. Most cameras can be set to do this and thereby save their own battery charge, but most can also be set to not allow this to occur and hence should work fine.

MM may have one of the few cameras that don't give the user the option, but this will be a very small minority in my experience. So buy with confidence, and if you are one of the unluky few the Apple 40 day return garantee will take care of you (when you by direct from them).

PS I'm not a Apple agent or even a big fan, just a very pleased user who has found the iPad a very useful way to review his images after a shoot.

    A waste of money

    • Written by from Colwyn Bay

The adapter will download raw files from my Nikon with no problem. I can view the pictures on the ipad with no problems.

However the problems arise when transferring the photographs to a PC for editing. They will only transfer as small TIFF files using a third party program. OK only for viewing photographs on the ipad after taking, but of no use to serious photographers.

A waste of time and money.

Superb, connected my Sony NEX-5 and it displayed all my photos, asking which ones to import. With iPhoto on the iPad as well, am constructing some fabulous journals of our French holiday!

    bad joke 2

    • Written by from grove

Reading the Bad Joke review I got more info than over an hour onto apple tech support as to why my card reader worked fine on ipad 1 but will not work on ipad 2. Clearly apple have changed the output power required to use the device and now its useless. If a change can be made in next apple OS update I suggest apple go back to what works!. I used to be able to import files from a in car camera from race car and use if for training and coaching. It just does not work saying "device requires to much power" when on original ipad it worked just fine. Apple please fix this problem!

    Sort of useless

    • Written by from Jyllinge

SD reader can only be used for SD cards with photos directly from the camera. It is not possible to transfer pictures from computer to SD card and then transfer to the iPad. USB-connector can only be used for connecting to a camera and transferring pictures.

Apple has a policy that restricts all resonable use on the iPad.

Why can't I put a PDF on the SD-card and transfer that to the iPad?
Why can't I drop pictures directly to the iPad disk when connected to a computer - Apple makes their own stupid organization of pictures on the iPad disk.

    This is ridiculus.

Worked straight out of the box and transferred all my photos from a Nikon D40 to iPad2. Read the few negative comments, but bought it happy in the knowledge of having a good guarantee from Apple. Love it!! Thanks Apple.

    Amazing and simple..!

    • Written by from Whitchurch

I do a lot of photography but don't want to lug around my laptop all the time. This kit with my iPad does a superb job. I am able to use the USB cable with my DSLR and instantly download my images. Also, if I use my compact, I can just whip out the SD card and plug it in... So simple..! Highly recommended..!
