Camera connection kit - doesn't work

Quite simple, really. Neither adapter works! Completely useless, so I sent them back for a refund. The iPad port works fine with the VGA adapter and charging adapter, so I can only assume there's a problem with the connection kit, as noted by other reviewers.

    iPad photo import crash fix

For those that are finding the photo app crashes when imprting photos I have a fix.

You need to change tour clock to 24hrs, close the photo app in the multi task bar.

The import should now work with no problems.

    As advertised

This product works as advertised. A little bit pricey.
But it does what it says it should.

It worked fine with my ipad2 and Nikon D5100.

    Doesn't work

Should be no stars really! The SD card or the USB link would not work on Ipad2 on my ipad2 or on 2 other Ipad2's in the store when it was returned for a refund. A second unit was also tested in the store and this also didn't work! Apple need to sort this problem out....Pronto!

    Works just fine for me

Transfers pictures taken from canon IXUS 980 IS no problem at all, 16 GB sdhc.
Also transfers pictures and hd videos, which was an unexpected bonus, from liquid image scuba mask camera, 16 GB micro sdhc with adapter.
Does not have sufficient power to drive the cameras so card removed and card adapter rather than USB adapter used.
Does not recognise the avchd videos taken from panasonic hdc sd90. Not a format the iPad 2 currently seems to recognise.
The transfer is easy and the software fires up immediately when the card and connector are attached to the iPad 2.

Had my doubts but works really well

Like many other people I read the reviews of this product on this site.

The good ones seemed too good to be true and the bad ones very nearly scared me off.

But one did suggest taking your camera to the store and trying before you buy. This was the most useful to me and the Apple store staff patiently waited while I checked my little Casio SLR and my ancient Sony A100.

Both worked beautifully and I bought on the spot. I normally shoot in RAW on my Sony but there aren't a great number of apps able to cope with them.

More are coming though and the ease of which I can now transfer my pics (including from my iPhone) has made this one of the most useful accessories I have bought yet.

A great little product but, if possible, check before you buy.

Would be fantastic if it actually worked properly

Apple really needs to issue a fix (or at least a page of instructions) for the SD card problems that many users, including myself, seem to be having. The USB connection to my D7000 works well but my Sandisk 8gb Ultra II cards do not work in the SD reader - nothing happens. I've searched and searched for answers but nobody has any and Apple haven't given any pointers anywhere.

    Excellent.

Both the USB and SD adapter work well with my Nikon D3100.
I was concerened after a few reviews said that they were having problems, shame they never stated what camera they were using.
So no problems importing photos direct from camera, or the SDCH card (TDK 8GB), then sending them on from there to e mail or other sites.
One reason for getting the iPad 2 was so I could take it on my travels and upload photos.
    Very pleased.

    Far exceeded my expectations

I bought this for my mother for her new ipad 2, I knew it would it work no problem with the SD card. But what surprised me was how quickly it down loaded the many photos stored on my father's camera SD card. I had read the reviews on here earlier, so when I bought my ipad 2, I didn't bother buying this connection kit. So when I tried my mother's USB connection kit piece and connected with a lead directly to my Canon 5D Mark 2 where I shoot RAW and Jpeg together with each photo, which can easily be 30 MB between them. I was gobsmacked how quickly these 30 MB photos down loaded. Now I'm glad I went for the 64GB ipad version, which will be great for holidays, instead of taking the laptop for my photo storage. Especially nowadays with the limited luggage allowance on the aircraft. That's why I here buying mine ipad camera connection kit today!

    Excellent product

Having read other reviews on here that talk about incompatibility with semi-pro cameras, I took the advantage of a trip to London to visit an Apple Store to check before purchase. Having been assured that it would work with my camera, I purchased it. Plugging the camera in via the USB connection, it showed up instantly, and quickly downloaded the photos to my iPad. The pictures look wonderful on screen, and can be easily synced with a computer, or emailed or edited in the iPad itself. I'm very pleased with my purchase, and will be using it a lot!

    FANTASTIC PRODUCT

Before I brought this I was looking at the reviews about this and was getting very worried that it wasn't as good as it claimed. I got this yesterday and thought I need to right this review as all the negative reviews for this product are rubbish. This product is very easy and portable to use and the pictures came up fantastic. Thank you apple for another great, easy, and fantastic product!!!

    Apple iCan't Connect Kit

Total and utter waste of money, trust me don't even be tempted by the Apple die-hard's weak support in these reviews, you would be far better off looking along the lines some kind of Bluetooth transfer of photos like Photo-sync or similar using a BT sd card reader. If you do buy this kit then don't buy your camera first but find out which cameras are compatible (there aren't many), frustratingly slow. This item highlights Apple's commitment to moving along with new technology....and just ignoring about what they have left behind. Who knows we may get a Connection kit 2, and then 3 or even 4 before the years out. I give this one star because the post was on time.

    why was I worried ?

I read the reviews and was worried when ordering, but I shouldn't have been. I have successfully used it with ScanDsik 8Gb HD cards and Nikon D3100 camera. Both connectors worked a treat, thanks Apple.

    Not with SD cards

These adapters do not work with SD cards used in many semi pro / pro cameras therefore from my point of view a total waste of money.

    NO LONGER WORKS!!

Why has Apple done this and reduced the output on the iPads!? It now outputs a 5th of the power that it originally did rendering this useless.

I cannot find a single thing it works on other than using a POWERED USB Hub (good luck finding electricity in the field).

DOES NOT WORK WITH iPhone, SLR Cameras, SD Cards or ANY adapters, USB card readers or non-powered hubs.

COME ON APPLE! This is ridiculous!
