    Worse than bad.

I genuinely can't believe that the charger has stopped working and it has probably been just under 2 years since I bought my macbook pro, it started wearing a turtle neck a month ago and I knew the end was near, and today the cable looked like it was burning as it changed colour! If other companies are able to create durable chargers (my old Sony laptop and the charger STILL WORKS!), I expected Apple to make better chargers, especially seeing as I've paid over twice the amount for my macbook. You guys probably do this on purpose so that customers are forced to buy another charger and spend money but this is a terrible thing to do. Now I have to spend extra money of a new charger UGH. I will no longer be purchasing Apple products in the future, I stopped with the phone a long time ago and now it's time to say bye to the MacBook.

Short Life - Big Price Tag!

I like one of the other people reviewing spent over £2000 on a MacBook Pro a few years ago. It has had very light use due to mainly working from my desktop Mac and this mainly for home or travel if needed.

I have literally probably not even had this into charge 50 times and the adaptor has now gone and will not charge the laptop at all. Really dismal effort from Apple with the adaptors for most of their stuff. Annoying that your products let your customer down when they need them the most and in the end have to go spend £65 on a new adaptor that has had little use at all from a big price tag item.

    Not very good

I've had my mac for about 24 months now and ive had nothing but problems with the charger.

It heats up to a temperature where I could fry an egg on it! After spending over £2000 on a Mac you'd think they would give you a better quality product.

The MacBook is fine, its just let down by the PSU

    Terribly Shoddy Product

Terrible product. Overheats within seconds to an unbearable temperature that has burned me a few times by accidentally touching it. Did they also make it out of catnip? My cat does not chew any cables, never has done. As soon as I got this adapter for my Mac, my cat has gone haywire trying to chew and bite it at absolutely any moment. Not only that, it plugs out instantly whenever touching it, again, overheats to unbearable temperatures, even at the end that plugs INTO the mac, and is incredibly weak. Such a terrible product.

Disappointed - nowhere near good enough

Having recently upgraded my Macbook Pro to the new Macbook Pro Retina, I have been delighted with the computer. However, I was very disappointed with the charger. The design of the charger used to much better, with the old 'L' shape design the connection was much more secure and less likely to fall out whilst charging. With the new charger, I find even the slightest movement will cause the charger to disconnect. Not good enough for the amount you pay for a high quality computer!

    Don't bother!

Honestly...Some of the shoddiest excuse for a charger I've ever seen. I've gone through 3, yes 3 chargers in 2 years. That's £180 down the toilet. Of course Apple will say it's down to how you treat it, I treat my very well and it eventually dies within a few months...No visible damage, tears or burns, which is surprising as the power pack gets so hot I'm worried it will burn a hole through my couch. The charger alone is enough to put me off MAC's pretty much all Apple products, your phone chargers are awful too. If I knew what I know now 2 years ago I would not bother getting it and would have gone for a more reliable windows computer.

    Very disappointing

On my 3rd one of these now. £2300 for a laptop and the power supply is so badly built I won't buy an MacBook again after this one expires.

Poor quality, same problem as everyone

The cable gets damaged at the MagSafe connecter end. And same with the lightning cables for iPhone. Apple really needs to improve the quality of their charging accessories.

    junk

This thing has torn apart in 4 different places. What a waste of money. What overpriced junk. Unfixable (as with most of apples products). How can they have the gaul to charge loyal premium paying customers so much for a necessity like this. I'm sick of them. Sick of Apple.

    Absolutely dire reliability

I'm about to order my third one of these rubbish chargers. The last one once again broke at the point where the cable to the Macbook attaches to the charger block. It's actually just started smoking where I'd tried to patch over the frayed rubber with electrical tape.

Atrocious design, but we're stuck with it.

Thanks to your cables I will no longer buy Apple Products

In 6 years i have had to replace 3 times this Power Adapter. Added to the various times I have had to replace my iPhone 5 charger I am so totally fed up that i will no longer buy any more apple products in the future. This is a problem that Apple should have taken seriously sometime ago as there are many dissatisfied customers. Quite frankly I am no longer prepared to shell out more money on premium costing items that do not come with premium item cables/accessories.
Apple´s cables are very poor quality and to add insult to injury seriously overpriced. May I suggest in the ever competitive technology space that the Seniors at Apple realise that this major flaw in that all your cables are non durable and easily break or fray will lose you many loyal customers which may overtime cause Apple to lose its position in the marketplace. Please remember there was a time when Nokia ruled the world.

    falling apart after 6 months

only had this product for less than six months and its already falling apart.
this however doesn't come as a surprise as all apple wires fall apart shortly after their first use.
    disappointed is an understatement.

    Truly awful quality

My MBPr is the last piece of apple hardware I own. This is because I have witnessed the quality fall out of the sky over the last 2yrs. My adapter just blew up causing a huge spark. I am appalled to see so many instances of this here. What are Apple playing at. Time to leave Apple for good now I think.

    What are Apple playing at?

My office has 5 Macbooks and we are on average having to replace 2 of these power adapters every year. Last year, one shorted out and nearly caused a fire. I never leave my Mac charging overnight any more!

We don't have this problem with the cheapest Windows PCs so I cant understand why such a 'premium' product is shipped with such a lousy power adapter that cannot stand up to more than a few months of normal use in office conditions.

    Stunned by the poor quality

Sad to say I have exactly the same problem as everyone else -- the cable just splits open. I've had Macs since 1986 and never had a problem with power supply. And £65 to replace!! Insulting to rip off loyal customers in this way. What is going on Apple? Safari is useless. It's hit or miss whether pages load. I use Chrome now. We pay the higher costs for better quality. Now the quality is deteriorating. I love my MacBook Pro, it's a wonderful computer, but this power adaptor is a joke. Apple should fix it or replace it. It has a known defect. I sold my Apple stock. I have serious concerns about the company now.

    Works fin for a while

I'm so glad I moved over to a Mac. It's stability compared to my old PC laptop is fantastic.

The one problem is the power supply. I have had my Mac for 2 ½ years, give or take, and every year or so, I have to buy a new power adapter. I've just ordered the second replacement unit for delivery tomorrow. I'm a writer by profession these days, and I rely on having computer access 24/7. It's working fine one moment, then I notice that the screen has gone darker, the LED on the connector no longer glows green and I'm on battery power. It fails without warning or notice.

Come on Apple, I'm sure you can design and build a better unit that this.
