    Good quality charger!

I've absolutely no idea why this product has so many negative reviews - I've had my MacBook for more than two years now and haven't had to replace the charger at all, it is still in great condition (apart from the white colour being a bit darker now obviously).

It's a charger, it works, had mine 2 years with no issues

If you need a charger then buy this, simple as that. Mine has lasted two years, and so has my father's and colleague's. Not sure what people do to their chargers but mine is fine.

Ordering a second one now because I'm tired of lugging it around.

    Harsh handlers?

I feel these reviews are somewhat weighted towards people that have had negative experiences with these units. After all, the millions of people that have had no problems with their adapter are unlikely to leave a review here just to say "all is well".
I have been using various MacBook models with MagSafe adapters since they came out. I have *never* had an adapter fail on me in anyway whatsoever. I have not had a concern about overheating nor have I ever had any connectors fail or cable insulation wear and expose bare wire. I can only put this down to a couple of things:

    1) Do NOT remove the connector from the computer by pulling (even gently) on the cable itself. Remove it by gripping the metal or plastic connector and pulling up or down
    2) Do leave a bit of slack before you wrap the cable around the charger's built-in cable management prongs. Watch some youtube videos for tips on this. This will prevent the cable fraying where it comes out of the charger unit

My sister has gone through three adapters in perhaps 3-5 years. They have all failed with worn insulation, exposed cable and eventual shorting out. This can't be a coincidence. She swears that she doesn't abuse them, but I just don't buy it.
Again, I've never had an Apple cable in the last 10 years fail on me. My original USB -> Dock connector cable that came with my iPad 2 is only now just beginning to show signs of wear around the Dock connector. That's not bad for almost six years of regular use.
I expect a MagSafe adapter to last me the whole lifetime of any MacBook I buy. I haven't been proven wrong yet.

    A victim of selection bias?

I guess the millions of people (like me) who never experience any problems with their power supply don't ever have a reason to come here and leave a good review for it! So the average rating here is probably very misleading.

I'm just here because I want to buy a spare one. The one that came with my MacBook is working fine after two years.

    Amazing!

I have never had any issues with the Magsafe 2 adapter. It does never fall out when I don't want it to. It doesn't get hot and the cables is really strong.

I love the Magsafe 2. Thank you, Apple!

Charges my 11" MBA 2013 in 2 hours..

Brilliant product, cable seems strong, well designed and sturdy. Has little fold out flaps which allow you to wind the cable up nice and tidy ready to through in the briefcase. The unit does seem to get warm when charging.. (50 - 70 oC?) Though nothing out of the ordinary for any high amp charger. I appreciate a fast charge over a slow, low amp one. From 3% to 100% in 2 hours is remarkable and slightly off subject but the charge then lasts the whole work day and beyond.. it's now 23:22 and I've still got 23%!!!
