    why apple why!

    • Written by from st davids

So this adapter does the job it specifies - however it is ridiculously short thus is you have a protection case around your phone you will have to remove this case to use the adapter. The perplexing issue I have is that you have managed to design the charger so it is compatible with casing, however on this item this has been disregarded. For £25 I would have expected an item that was more fit for purpose.

DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS AWFUL PRODUCT! I purchased this as my docking station that I bought when I had my iphone 4 no longer fit the new iphone five charger. I thought the price was overpriced but spend the money to save buying a new docking station. BAD IDEA! IT CHARGES MY PHONE BUT WONT PLAY MY MUSIC!! DO NOT BUY THIS!!

    Does the job but....

    • Written by from Goudhurst

I bought this because I like to listen to the radio when I am running. Sadly Apple do not provide a radio which can be used when on the move so I have had to buy an accessory made by Roberts which is just the job. Sadly again these are no longer made and the fitting on my iPhone 5 is different from the iPhone 4. I bought this to convert the fitting but, like everyone else found that the case got in the way. I have therefore bought he wire which does the job and put this one on my dock. I am now running with , what feels like, metres of wire which is really really annoying.
Why can't the radio be integrated like it is on my daughter's Samsung, it has cost nigh on £100 to add a decent radio

Don't buy if you use an Apple phone case!

    • Written by from NEWTON ABBOT

Very disappointed. I bought an Apple leather phone case as many 5S buyers have, however the adaptor is too short to fit through the case and into the socket, so it is now absolutely useless for the phone whilst in its case.

I can't believe that Apple did not test this product with the case. The adaptor is a premium price and you expect better from Apple!

Expensive, doesn't work with covers, poor job apple....

    • Written by from WREXHAM

Apart from this product being over 1000% more expensive than it should be, they haven't left extra room on the end for even the smallest of covers, it does work with audio but I had to sand off the top of the adapter to get it to fit my slim cover, what a bodge thanks for nothing apple..

    Does the job

    • Written by from Glasgow

Okay, so it's not the prettiest but it does the job. It works on my Roberts and my Bose and that's all I wanted it for. To all those who say it doesn't work perhaps you need extra attachments which come with the likes of Bose and Roberts. Note to Apple though - cut the price and get some new colours please.

So far works with all the 30 pin accessories I'd accumulated for my iPhone 4S. Price is daylight robbery though!

A good product and I'm only knocking off a star because of the price, it does seem a bit expensive for what it is but I guess you get what you pay for. I've read a variety of reviews where some people say they can only charge their phone via the docking station or only play music but not charge etc but I got told its something to do with whether your docking station is capable of doing both. This seems to work well with my phone and docking station allowing me to charge my phone and play music so I'm happy. The only other point to mention would be depending on what type of cover or case you have on your phone, if you do have one, you might need to remove the cover to make sure everything connects up properly.

Waste of Money and far too expensive

    • Written by from Gillingham

I bought this as I have just upgraded to an iPhone 5s from a 4s. The plan was to use this on my expensive Bose SoundDock Portable, but it's useless. You connect it and it shows that it is charging etc, but you check back 2 mins later and it's no longer connected. I have tried a friends Lightning adapter and have had the same results... I have also tried my adaptor on my brothers Bose equipment and the same disappointing results.
The only thing I have found this works on is the car charger.
Thanks Apple, I have now got to sell my SoundDock Portable and pay out for another expensive replacement.

    Not For Me

    • Written by from West Byfleet

Very expensive for such a small item. When I tried to use it with my new iPhone 5s (after removing its case), it would not fit into the socket for the Bose Docking Station. I had to remove the Bose surround on the docking station socket after which the Adapter fitted but the iPhone was very precarious and felt as if the connector would break very easily. It then only had limited playback functionality using the Bose remote. I have reverted to the Auxiliary Socket on the Docking Station which works better and so have returned the Adaptor.

    Poor design

    • Written by from Epping

IMO this is a poor design . It means the iphone now has to sit perched on this tiny insert while wobbling about in a cradle. And the price is a total rip off

    iphone 5 adapter

    • Written by from Camberly

My star rating is based on the price as I think that this product is much to expensive for what it is. Although it lets you use all of the old IPhone 4 chargers, it is the price that lets it down!

Why is there no 8pin to 30pin adapter for ipod classic?

    • Written by from Manchester

I'm sure this product is fine (if absurdly expensive, but hey, it's Apple, so what do people expect?) - but I cannot believe that Apple do not produce a female 8pin to male 30pin adapter so that customers can use their older iPod Classics with the newer docking stations on the market.
Does Apple seriously expect that people will just buy a new iPod when their older ones (and by older I mean bought three years ago!) still work perfectly well? I am so annoyed by this that I'm seriously thinking of ditching my Apple products for good and switching to android.

Works, but at this price, should be perfect

    • Written by from Bury St Edmunds

OK, first off, it does work! I have a 2011 Mk6 Golf and this connects to the 30 pin MDI cable and gives me the same 'full' media functionality I had with my 4S (note product says no video!).
I have cut 2 stars, not because of the outrage of paying £30 for something that should be free or £10 at most, but because it still doesn't allow for the fact that most phones have a case on and you have to remove it for this adaptor to plug in. Oh, and it only comes in white. £30 and no colour choice, that is poor.

This adaptor does not fit when Apples own case is on the iPad air. How dumb is that? Surely someone could have checked that out, and at this price. Very annoying. Also does not work with my old iPad to VGA adaptor. Grrrrr

    • Written by from Ystrad Mynach

Awful design, apple. What were you thinking? Who uses their phone without a case? I know extending the length of the socket would make it insecure and liable to snap, so howabout a breakout cable on the next version?

doesn't work with smart case on iPad Air

    • Written by from BIRMINGHAM

bought this at the same time as iPad Air and a smart case at Apple store in Birmingham.

However case doesn't fit the width of the adaptor as its as wide as the 30 pin, and the depth of the lightning end is not long enough to reach beyond case.

I will be seeking a refund as its not fit for purpose with what I bought, especially as I bought then all together.

    Carelessly designed

    • Written by from HARROGATE

If you use a case for your iPhone (for example the new iPhone 5/5s leather cases) using this product will require you to remove your case. A small but meaningful inconvenience that adds insult to injury when you've just parted with £25 for such a simple peripheral.
