Very useful in transition from older to new style cable

I got this back when I first got a iPhone 5 moving on from older style, I still use the older style for my older Ipad 3g for useful at the start.

Less used now but still glad I had it was very handy.

Now have loads of the newer cables as they come with any new iPhones / iPads so don't find I use the older one as much.

Another badly thought through apple products

I got this with my new Apple iPhone and apple case all sold by the apple assistant in an apple shop only to find this is useless as you can't use it when the phone is in the apple case!! £25 down the drain. Don't buy if your phone is in a case.

    Apple rip-off

One would have thought that when Apple changed IPads to a lightning connection they would have designed an adaptor that allowed the IPads to function on existing audio docking stations. THEY DIDN'T!!!. And as a result I'm left with this over-priced useless adaptor. You Apple guys are getting a bad reputation as this isn't the first time this has happened.

ABSOLUTELY GREEDY AND SHAMEFUL - APPLE

Just bought the lightning to 30 pin adaptor cable to play music from my iPhone 6 through my Bowers and Wilkins Zeppelin. Where the do I put my phone??? The cable is too short for the phone to rest at the side of my speaker. I knew it was short but not so short as to have to find a pile of books to put immediately next to the speaker for the phone to sit on! £35 for that! Apple are now becoming too greedy for my liking! They need a good kicking up the backside by Samsung. Jeez...its not as though my speaker is that old.
APPLE - sort yourselves out ...you've become too greedy and it will be your downfall if you don't stop it now!

    Fed Up

Bought my first one of these in February of last year. Within a few months it had stopped working. Got a replacement under warranty at the Apple Store. Now this second one has stopped working and I find myself needing to buy a new one. This level of unreliability isn't something I expect of Apple and I'll be making the staff aware of my unhappiness when I go and buy the replacement. It may not do any good but it might make me feel a little better.

If you have an AUDI Music Interface this one works

I lot of people moan about the cost of these.

I have found the cheap Ebay fake ones only last a couple of months before failing. This one is in my car and has still not failed after 2 years of use.

The reason it is expensive is because there in some A to D circuitry inside. I have an AUDI with the old style iPhone type lead attached to the stereo. This is the only adapt that will work with the stereo. All the fake ones do nothing. I don't know what other cars are like, but I was more than happy with the price when I found out it could be used in my car.

The fake ones are OK for charging and using in USB stereo inputs.

    Connectivity

I bought this adapter to connect my new iPhone 6 to my Bluetooth cables in my car. I have found that the connection is extremely bad as it is constantly coming out causing the phone to disconnect and interrupting music, recharging, etc. There is definitely a design fault here. I went into an Apple store on Friday to exchange the device and checked the new one which was exactly the same. The connection is not tight enough.

    It works

I bought this for my wife so that she could use the camera adapter kit from her iPad 2 with her new iPad air. It works. The problem is that it will not connect to the iPad while the iPad is in its smart case! What a fiddle having to prise it out every time. Easier to buy a new adapter kit.

    Works like it should

Wasnt sure if this would work on my sons Pure dock, but as expected works a treat. A little over priced, would like to buy some more but sharing at the moment on our other docks.

    Don't waste your money

I bought the camera and HDMI adapters just before Apple announced they were changing the charging ports. I have only just changed my devices from 30pin to lighting because I had these and a radio that again was bought three months before the change was announced so held onto the 30pin devices as long as possible before they (inevitably) failed and were changed.

The generic adapter doesn't work with either of these two 30pin adapters with my iPhone 5s or my iPad mini (where applicable). The whole point of this is that you shouldn't find yourself with items that are now useless, but I guess Apple aren't concerned with making products that actually do what they say they will.

Works with iPhone 5s to Arcam rCube, rWand and VW Media-in connection

Just upgraded iPhone from 4s to 5s as don't like size/weight of 6. Hope I don't regret that too soon! Anyway this connector works fine with direct connection to the (now deleted) Arcam rCube and the phone is supported well enough unless you are going to throw your shoes at it! I can confirm it also works using the Arcam rWand over it's Klear streamed connection. I have just tried it with the 30-pin VW media-in cable in my 2011 VW Golf Estate and it works as well as the original connection ever did ( ie not perfectly but well enough). So I hope this helps all you rCube lovers as I could find nothing on this before now and I know this contradicts other reports about the VW Media-in connection. The Lightning plug is reversible in use, but remember the 30 pin end is not!
Loss of one star as the price could have been sold at a loss by Apple even though I think it contains a DAC - for goodwill reasons; and I wonder if they considered a more stubby, strong adapter without a DAC but including a jack connection to the jack socket triggered to produce a line out analog signal through a 30 pin socket.

    Great Design ... but

As usual, a very soldly-engineered product from Apple.

Does exactly what it says on the tin - but ...

    1) VERY, VERY EXPENSIVE for what it is. £10.00 would be reasonable but £25?!?

    2) As others have mentioned, the adapter takes NO account that you may have a protective case on your iPhone/iPad. When trying to charge my new iPhone on my 30-pin Pure Clock Radio, the adapter fitted fine, and so did the iPhone on the adapter but the fact that I had a protective case on the iPhone meant that the connections on the adapter didn't make contact with the contacts in the phone. I had to take the phone out of the case in order to use the adapter to charge the phone.

So, lose 2 stars for horrendous expense and a further star for the lack of thought regarding the use of the adapter with an iPhone/iPad which has a case fitted. result - 2 stars.

    SHAME APPLE!

    Well mine doesn't work!

Sister bought one from a UK Apple Store an sent it to as a birthday pressie. Opened the pack, attached adapter, attached iPod, nothing. No sound and the iPod isn't even being recognised. Took it back tho the store and they wouldn't refund or exchange the item.

    Small but mighty !

I purchased this fine adaptor, earlier today, there are many, reviews,of this item, some favourable and some not,all I can do is give my honest review.
Many complain about the price, however few people realise just what this adaptor,is or does ! For a start, this is a DAC,and IMHO for the money an amazing product, the old 30'pin connector was analogue, the new lightning connector is digital, therefore, the signal must be converted from digital to analogue, most people won't hear, nor will ever hear just how good this tiny connector is,in my system, adapting an Arcsm r- Dock to use with my I pad mini the sound is sublime,it is boosted further by being connected to a Beresford Bushmaster Dac,itself powered by a very large expensive power supply,
The combined results are amazing, via Spotify Premium,I could be fooled into thinking that I sm listening to my very expensive valve powered CD player, such is the performance.
A stunning product, which when used correctly is state of the art !
    Highly recommended ! Steve.

    It works !!!

Reluctantly bought this after reading reviews, unsure it would work with my philips ds9/10 speaker dock but it works perfectly fine, I don't have to take my phone out of its case and it fits the right way around and charges and sound comes out of speaker and not phone. Bit pricey but cheaper than a new speaker.

only white - not for video...and not for every iphone 5 to 6 with a case on

so i didn't see this coming either...£25 wasted

i have a Roth valve amplifier with a built in 30 pin ...and i use a female 30 pin extension cable to keep the phone away from the unit ...'was' much easier to use...i have the iphone 6 in a case of course ...who doesn't ....must be spiderman's family...

doesn't fit!!!....but the cheap black charging only extenders 30 pin to lightening [apple 8] which are much shorter.... and you'll notice the clever little extra shoulder design that extends the connection a few millimeters and ...dofit a phone with a case!! ....wow

not rocket science...was it political to make it all but useless or just head in the sand couldn't care less? ...would the designer please stand up

oh yes now i have the hindsight knowledge... i notice a cable [white only of course] for £35 !....that extends 30 pin female to lightening...thank you so much

    Useless

This would be much better if it was usable-I bought a protective case and adaptor at the same time from my local apple store, but you can't use the adaptor if the case is on the phone. Disappointing.

Good adaptor - too bad the pin is short

I have a Philips night lamp whit the old 30 pin connector, so I got the adaptor for lightning, but when I place my iPhone 5s on the connector, it's to short due to my original leather case from Apple! So I have to take it off all the time not very cleaver made.

    5s power adaptor

Does not fit an iPhone 5s with a cover on - very poor design, expected better from Apple - especially given the ridiculous price, pathetic really - going the way of microsoft
