    Works as expected

Adapter cable works well, charging and audio as expected using iphone 5s. Also it does fit fine with 5s leather case on. Only negative is the price, but got mine £10 cheaper from high street catalogue store.

I had to doctor a v. expensive phone cover to make this work!!

I'm not happy. I had to cut into a very expensive phone case to make a bigger slot just so that the lightning end of this adapter would fully fit into the phone. (It seemed pointless to have to take my cover off every time i wanted to plug it into my Bose system and this cover does have a standard sized slot.) You see, for some reason, they decided to make the plastic end THICKER than the normal lightning to USB cable that comes shipped with the phones. WHY???

And why is a simple cable so expensive?

Its gets a star because it works...

    Too Short Too Expensive

Purchased to adapt my iPhone sound system because of the new Lightning plug but the ridiculously short cable length means there is nowhere to put the phone. If the cable length had been longer so the phone could be placed on a flat surface or table it would have been fine but this solution isn't at all helpful very short sighted:) An example of over expensive and under thought out apple accessories and £35 pounds for a tiny cable is far too costly.

    It doesn't work!

It doesn't work with any of my accessories... Card reader, vga, hdmi... Wasted my money on something that has no apparent use if all these are not compatible.

Does the job but at a high price.

Purchased this after I got my iPad Air as I wanted to use the link with my 30 pin cable with my Mac. The product is good and does the job well. I am able to use it with my iPad Air still in it's case (the case is a Griffin case) and sync with no problems.

When it comes the the length, it's perfect for me. Does come as a very HIGH price sadly.

End connector (the lightning end) is too big for most iphone / ipad cases

Please be aware when ordering this, as it isn't made clear in the product description - the lightning end is a lot bigger (a larger diameter) than the usb to lightning cable that comes in the box with new iphones / ipads. So if you have a snug case, then it just won't fit.

I'm not sure why Apple have done it this way - it's possible that there are more electronics inside, but they should at least flag this up in the product description so you can make an informed choice. To be honest, I don't think it is extra gizmos making this thing bigger, just a flawed and careless design.

Massive rip off but it works

Bought this connect my phone to a VW car stereo with MDI cable. Works as it should and sound quality is great.

One thing to note the plastic surrounding the tip of the cable is thicker than the usb cable supplied with a 5S. This meant I had to modify the end of the cable in order for it to slot into my phone while in an Element case.

Too big for iPhone 5S with new Apple 5s leather case

Bought two of these hoping they would allow me to reuse the dozen or more 30pin cables I have around the house. Sadly the lightning connector plug is slightly too fat to fit in the snug hole in the new 5s leather case, as are 3 other types of lightning cable I have tried. Not very useful at all !!

Great, just gotta be a little careful.

The one i got with my iPad sadly broke but that was due to my poor care for it. I took it to apple and they were happy to replace it for free and ive just gotta be a bit more careful now. Very good charger, and im happy with apple. :)

    It's way too SHORT!!!

Why is there not a 0.5m or 1.0m version or what ever the normal length of the charging cables are? Its way too SHORT to be of any use! Plus it's over priced too!

Stupidly designed by Apple in California...

    Frustrating in the extreme

I understand that generic products may not always work but the Apple ones should! My iPhone 5 charger wire stopped working a few days ago. Yesterday I was walking the dog and the Apple (came in the box) headphones were crackling and very intermittent with my new iPhone 5. In the evening I put my iPhone on charge using my very new iPad Mini charger only to see that the charge wasn't taking.

PLEASE do something about it. All I am planning to do now is buy generic cheap ones from Amazon by the bucket load and throw them out once they stop working.

Worst product ever, if you buy this your crazy, Apple have completely failed with this product, it last no longer than a month, it takes all night to charge, and then loses battery in 5 minutes? That's crazy it's way to small, easy to break Ive been through 3 in 1 month biggest fail of a charger, shocking.

    Didn't last 2 months

I bought this as I have a 30-pin dock and charging point on my digital radio and I have been using this adapter to connect my iPhone 5 to it to play music and to charge it. Exactly one month and 20 days after it was sent to me, this adapter stopped working completely. Now I am back to square one, not able to play my music from my iPhone 5 through my dock. Oh, and £30 out of pocket too. An expensive piece of kit that didn't even last 2 months. I will never understand why Apple changed the iPhone 5 to lightning.

    Excellent bit of kit.

Though a little short, it's excellent and works.
Some people have complained the connector is larger. It's an 'intelligent' cable, therefore there are more components packed in to the cable than the standard lightning.
Also, why are people giving 1-star for incompatibility with Sony/Bose kit? That's the audio companies fault and not a fault of this cable.
As for it not playing video, lightning doesn't support video-out (as yet) and Apple has made this very clear in the past, again, not a fault of this cable.

    Extra thick Ligntning connector

I bought this item because I have a load of older devices using 30 pin connectors and I though this would be a convenient way to charge my iPhone 5 and new iPad using the existing cables (I had already bought the Lightning to 30 pin adapter - without the cable - and found it useless as it was too large fit my iPhone with its protective case on, whereas the plug on the Lightning to USB cable supplied with the phone fitted fine).
For some reason the Ligntning conector on this cable is significantly larger than that on the Ligntning to USB cable. You cannot tell this from the photos - indeed the connectors look identical. Consequently this cable will not fit devices with many covers/cases - including Apple's own iPad cover.
Why two different sizes of Lightning plug? I would understand if this was made by a third party manufacturer but this is an Apple product!

    Not really an adapter

Bought this mainly to use my new iPad mini to VGA for teaching, using the 30-pin dock to VGA lead I already had.
It doesn't work. "This accessory does not work with this iPad". Great. Works for charging only as far as I can tell.
Apple store did reluctantly take it back and let me pay the extra for the Lightning-to-VGA lead, at an outrageous £39.
