Outrageously expensive, worked OK, but now cuts out if you move it

Very lazy design, £40 is way too expensive for this. Why did Apple not mould the Lightning connector into the other end of the block so as to give a strong and rigid design. Most HDMI cables are heavy so inevitably the short stiff piece of cable that connects to the Lightning plug will be under bending loads however careful you are, and hence they fail early. Mine has lasted about 6 months and now cuts out if you so much as touch it - as have many other peoples if you read all the negative reviews. It actually worked very well before it started to break which is all the more frustrating. Shame on you Apple, selling expensive, poorly designed and badly made rubbish as accessories for your otherwise excellent kit. And there is no alternative source available as you have a monopoly. You should and can be so much better than this.

    s**t

Don't buy this lol. 40 quid and it just stopped working after a day. On top of that, while it did work, half the apps aren't supported anyway. Apple need to just swallow their pride and give the consumer what they want, FLEXIBILITY. A smart company would allow more experienced 3rd party cable companies to produce this kind of product rather than keeping exclusivity just to charge EXTORTIONATE prices for something that costs 20p to make, and doesn't even work. Poor form apple. poor form.

Doesn't work well at all... Ugly kludge.

I bought several items of equipment to run a stand showing off iPad apps at a conference.., Monitors, AV brackets, gooseneck stands, HDMI cables etc.

The critical link was lighting AV adapters connecting iPads the delegates play with, to nice HD monitors on the booth wall. Both adapters gave horrible results on big screens. They showed compression artefacts and a generally nasty image. There is absolutely no way the output is 1080!

I don't quite know how Apple has managed it, but it takes many ££££ and turns a lovely crisp retina image into something truly ugly. I switched one over to my old iPad 2 with a 30 pin adapter and got a better image!

    SHODDY!

Like many other reviewers I paid full whack for this connector, and it just stopped working - annoyingly when the warranty period had expired. Suprisingly shoddy for a company like Apple. Probably better to get an Apple TV.

    'almost' perfect!

From my usage, over the past year, almost everything on your iPad will appear on your TV screen, except, BT Sport! They have just changed to the Google Chromecaste adapter. It's still worth buying for all it's other applications!

    Expensive failure

I bought one of these in January and while it worked well initially, after 8 months it just stopped working. If I had paid £5 for one from China I might not be surprised, but at over £30 for a genuine Apple product, this is just not good enough. I am now trying to get a refund/replacement but have little faith that another one will do much better, particularly having read so many recent reviews showing these failing after only hours of use.
I used to think Apple produced a high quality product but my experience with this leaves me very much in doubt and I would be reluctant to spend any significant sum on any of their products if this is the level of quality I can expect.

    Rubbish

I find it annoying that we are being forced to buy an item from a sole supplier when obviously other manufacturers can do it better (Belkin springs to mind). I used the adapter once and it failed on the second occasion (and I am not the only person to have this problem). So Apple, please give the licence to someone who know how to produce a reliable product and you stick to making things that you know about. (why is it not possible to give a zero star rating as that is a better reflection of the quality of this adapter?).

    Terrible

Firstly it's expensive. It worked for less than 24 hours and then stopped working. I exchanged it for another one and that one didn't work either. Don't waste your money on this.

    Excellent Adaptor

I use this adaptor a lot when I go to hotels ad want to watch films on my phone on the hotel TV. The only problem I had was one that I suspect some of the other reviewers have had....fluff in the lightning connector of my iPhone. This gives the wobbly connector problem. I could not sort this so I took it to an Apple shop and they cleaned it free of charge.

    VERY POOR PRODUCT

Bought one of these to work with a Pioneer App Radio which mirrors onto a touch screen on my car. The wire needs to be perfectly staight to work other wise poor connection. One failed so bought another and same issue. Simply not up to the task and £80 down. Apple sort it out please - Like that's going to happen

    Beware - doesn't work on IPad Air 2 with ISO 8.3 and 8.4!! Don't waste ££££

I bought this to connect my iPad Air 2 to my TV. At first it worked great and then following an IOS software update it stopped working. It shows the connector is attached with the blue bar appearing, but doesn't display on the TV anymore. It still works on my iPhone 5c (also a poor quality product) so clearly there is a problem with the software update and I'm very disappointed the latest (8.4) has not remedied the compatibility. I've not updated the iPhone software and assume if I did this expensive connector would be totally redundant.

Apple you should change the compatibility statement until you fix the problem, instead of allowing your customers to waste £40!!!!

Does not work with my IPad Air but does with my daughter's older IPad!

i bought this adapter in January and used it to play downloads from ITV and BBC IPlayer. It now refuses to link to my Sony Bravia TV. I just get a blank screen. However, I plugged my daughter 's older version IPad into the adapter and hers works. I am not happy at all. What a waste of money!

    Poor product

This never worked properly from the start. I had to fiddle with it to stop getting a message saying 'out of range'. It worked intermittently for a while before breaking altogether. Considering the astronomic cost, this is a very shoddy add on. Buyer beware.

    It breaks too quick :(

To invent an Apple Lightning Digital AV Adapter is a good idea but to make its cable too short is absolutely bad idea that's why it breaks down too quickly :(

    Does the Job

I bought the smallest lead in the world solely for streaming Netflix and Amazon prime on a larger screen, It does this to a very high standard.
Both are full screen and the HD quality is very good.
I took a star off as at £40, its extremely expensive!

    Disappointed in extreme

I project through VGA connection via iPad or iPhone, and I get a full screen size from my OHP on full zoom.
I project exactly the same item using lightning converter to HDMI and I get a nice picture, but half the size.
It seems from the posts here that that is that. Such a shame.
    But if anyone can help?

    Works great for Amazon Prime

We bought this for watching Amazon Prime videos that we couldn't watch with Apple TV. The price we paid is well worth not having to crowd around the iPad mini! We haven't tried other apps, but it seems to mirror what is on the iPad.

Seriously over priced - Apple TV much better solution

I tried a friend's adapter, but just could not justify spending 3x what it is actually worth to me. In the end I bought Apple TV which gave me all the functionality including BBC iPlayer plus a lot more, for not much more than the cost of the adapter. It is better to be able to connect wirelessly, without the hassle of cables and my experience of Apple lightning cables is that they don't last that long.
