    Love but hate

These are great headphones, the sound and fit i cannot fault.
BUT they are just so unreliable! I don't use headphones alot but i have gone through so many they just constantly break, the main problem being that one headphone side will stop working. Its quite frustrating because they are just good headphones but break easily, no matter how careful you are!

    Great sound awful comfort

These actually sound really nice and have a good bass but they are just too uncomfortable for me to recommend. My ears hurt after just 5 mins. Plus they leak really bad too

    GREAT ! But...

I am not one of those who used to listen to music all the time before, so I don't know how other products do.

But I was amazed about the sound quality in these (who came with my new iPhone 5S). I listen to music a lot more now than I did before. With the 2 speakers + a bas in each ear the sound quality is much better than any other ear pods I've ever had. There is also a little hole to let noise from your surroundings into your ear so you still have an idea about what is going on around you (I assume that is the purpose for these).

The only thing is that it can be rely difficult detach them from the phone because it is so slippery. I think that is why some of them break relatively quick.

People are expecting the best of the best from Apple, so only 3 stars from me. And YES! They are great, but Apple can do better.

    6 months excellent listening

And now nothing in my right ear.
Seems other people have the same experience. Great for a while then one half just stops working. This may just be a loose connection issue but Apple should investigate as it is a clear design problem. (Like the too small feet on the PowerBook adapter which damage the wire).
Nice pods otherwise - clear sound and very comfortable, even when lying down, and don't leave feeling that they're still in after removing. Anyone who says other people can hear your music has the volume too high for they're own hearing safety.

    Not value for money

I have lose carry of how many iPhone ear pod that I have bought, it works for four to five months then one speaker stops working or both stop working. The only reason why I keep on buying the ear pod is because when it is working it is very good and that is why I have given it three stars.

In the pass I have got for a more cheaper one and it last longer, please fix this £26 is not cheap.

    Unhappy customer.

    I must have abnormal ears

the earpods look brilliant and when I hold them in place the audio is fantastic. i have always had the issue that my ears simply do not accommodate any earphones, the earpods being no exception. gave them away unfortunately. :(

Good for phone, but don't work with anything else!

I got a set of these with my iPhone 5, and they sound wonderful with the iPhone 5, but if you try to use them with anything else then you don't get all the channels of sound. Typically the speech is muffled, and you onle hear the music, unless you hold the microphone button down. I swapped the first pair in an apple store to see if it was a fault, but the second pair are exactly the same. Waste of money to buy if you want multipurpose earphones. They only get three stars because the sound is good, and they are comfortable to wear, even with small ears. I find most headphones and in-ear buds too big and they always fall out, whereas these seem to stay put (even if they don't feel like they are very secure - they are).

    New Apple ear-pods

The key merits are their reasonably good sound quality (I like classical music) and they are really good for phone conversations, when the phone is on the desk. They are light and reasonably comfortable to use. There is very little microphonic noise from the cables. However, this only applies in doors.
Out of doors they do not stay in the ears, and external noise overwhelms the sound rendering them useless. Using them for phone calls, out side, is, in my experience practically impossible.
The plastic case is useful for keeping them tidy, but not practical for frequent use, as it takes a little time to line up the mic and the ear-pods in the correct place, before winding the cable. So much quicker to wind them round the phone.

    Slippiest earphones of all

This is less a review and more a caution.

If you, like me, have issues with in-ear headphones, where you don't have the lobes to hold them in place, then give these a miss. The sound is excellent, far better than any other Apple have ever produced. But their new design, optimised to direct the sound deep in your earhole, is by far the easiest to fall out of my ears of any in-earphones I have ever owned. Sorry I bought them, but maybe with a lump of Sugru, I can do something with them. If your lobes will hold them in place, they are truly super headphones. If not, you'll spend your time holding them in place. All stars are for sound quality.

    better but still no good

The sound quality is still poor compared to a mid range headphone. They fit better than the last stock headphone but still feel unnatural in the ear. but i dont think they would get any better with out using rubber earbuds.

More detail but where is the bass!

There is definitely more detail in the music compared to old apple earphones. Especially at the high end but where is the bass everyone keeps talking about?
If you cover your ears with your hands granted they sound great. Loads of bass!!
But otherwise they still sound thin.
I own numerous in ear and over ear phones that sound far better for not much more money!
On the plus side they are comfortable to wear for long periods.

OK for free but there are better...

A LOT better than the previously bundled earbuds, which were an insult to musicians all over the world, these are not actually that bad. Reasonably balanced overall with better quality bass than most at this price (very present, rather than bass-heavy like Beats by Dre stuff), they also have pretty decent stereo separation for earbuds.

Unfortunately they just don't have the clarity to match the other plus points, especially if they don't fit in your ear well, so you'll missing out on so much music detail.

I've got some high-end Shure and Grado headphones and the difference in sound quality is staggering. Yes, they're a lot more expensive than £25 - but Apple are claiming the earPods compete and they just don't. I'm not saying you should go out and spend £200 on a set of headphones - but spending a little more opens up a whole new world of detail that you never knew existed.

    Not bad

Beautiful to look at, reasonable sound only just over that of previous version. They felt very bulky in the ear and somewhat hard without the rubber surround. Glad they are free with iPhone 5, otherwise I would prefer to see what else is on the market.

    Doesn't fit my ears

Well, Jony Ive hasn't studied my ears :))
They unfortunately don't fit my ears although the sound coming from them when I hold them in place is superior to the normal apple headphones.

They are ok earphones and a good design but they seem like they were rushed. Maybe a last minuet idea from apple. Some rubber on the tunnel part would help a bunch. The sound quality is a big step up from the old ones and much better than ear phones of the same price. The bass is much better and the treble is really crisp. But a rubber air tight seal would improve the audio ten fold. In college I used to use bulky head phones and always had one ear on so I could hear music and my teacher. But when I use these with just 1 they fall out often.
