Product Information

  • The 60 Watt MagSafe Power Adapter features a magnetic DC connector that ensures your power cable will disconnect if it experiences undue strain and helps prevent fraying or weakening of the cables over time. In addition, the magnetic DC helps guide the plug into the system for a quick and secure connection.

When the connection is secure, an LED located at the head of the DC connector will light; an amber light lets you know that your portable is charging, while a green light tells you that you have a full charge. An AC cord is provided with the adapter for maximum cord length, while the AC wall adapter (also provided) gives users an even easier and more compact way to travel.

Designed to be the perfect traveling companion, the adapter has a clever design which allows the DC cable to be wound neatly around itself for easy cable storage.

This power adapter recharges the lithium polymer battery while the system is off, on, or in sleep mode. It also powers the system if you choose to operate without a battery.

Compatible with MacBook and 13-inch MacBook Pro.

I have bought replacement Magsafe Power adaptors in the past because they don't always last. Sometimes 1-2 years but this recent one only lasted 3 months. At $80 per adaptor this is ridiculous. Read online, many consumers have had the same issues.

I want to love you. I really, really do. You're making it difficult though.

I couldn't blame you when my old, T-style power ad I want to love you. I really, really do. You're making it difficult though.

I couldn't blame you when my old, T-style power adapter broke after a couple years. I was even excited when I saw the sleek, new, redesigned L-style. However, that one broke too- but this time, it was after only about two months. I tried not to take it out on you, and figured that maybe I got the one bad one in the batch, or that maybe I had been too rough with it. But here I am, typing away, pausing occasionally to wiggle the cord in order to get it to work again- for a few seconds at least. Yes, thats right, my SECOND L-style magsafe has broken, also after only a couple months.

Finally, I'm realizing that it's not me, it's YOU. And you just don't seem to realize that. I called Apple support only to be told that there are "no known issues" with the L-style magsafe adapter. Oh really? Dearest apple, do you ever read the reviews your products receive? Obviously there is a known issue, and its that this product simply doesn't work if you use it for more than a month!

I've enjoyed your sleek design and better usability, but honestly, I think I'm leaving you. For a PC.

  • New and Better than the Old MagSafe

I own the white 13" 2008 Macbook, and to answer your questions (if any), yes, it works with it. As for the MagSafe itself, it feel I own the white 13" 2008 Macbook, and to answer your questions (if any), yes, it works with it. As for the MagSafe itself, it feels differently built (for the better), it doesn't nearly get as hot as the old MagSafe did (incredibly this one stays very cool, even on extended periods of time, although that could be because it's new.) Lastly, the actual connector is pretty innovative, feels much sturdier and less prone to fire/breaking/separation issues. It also wraps around a better/more effective contour. All in all, for $79 compared to $99, and the benefits i've named, it's a much better buy than the previous MagSafe (still overpriced, apple)

Tomorrow I'm about to purchase my 4th power adapter. The one that came with the computer lasted just a few months. The second one Tomorrow I'm about to purchase my 4th power adapter. The one that came with the computer lasted just a few months. The second one lasted a while, but then the end broke off after fraying (the "L" shape causes extreme stress on the end of not constantly flipped around). I then borrowed one from my sister-in-law because she doesn't use hers anymore, which just broke on me. So tomorrow morning I march into Apple to pay my dues, yet again, just to use the computer I bought. Ridiculous.

I know a lot of people complain about the longevity and pricey-ness of these chargers, but I have had mine for almost 5 years now. I know a lot of people complain about the longevity and pricey-ness of these chargers, but I have had mine for almost 5 years now. If you compare that to any other laptop chargers it's pretty much the same. The way it is designed is for you to wrap the wire after first using the bunny hole technique so the wire doesn't bend then fray easily. I try to always put mine away when not being used. I just bought my new one today and plan on keeping it for more than 5 years. My older sister has had hers for almost 8 and has some electric tape where the wire started to fray (genius idea).

There are many Interenet sites on how to repair the adapter BECAUSE IT KEEPS BREAKING! Also, there are Internet sites showing how to take care of the power cord so it would not break. Are you kidding? How stupid is that?

You are suppose to be a great computer company. I am outraged by having to replace the power cord 3 TIMES ALREADY! Apple made the contact for the laptop in a way that you can't use any generic cord.

    I give it NO STARS!
