Enough to Power my Audio sound card?
I am so excited with this release and I am not at home to check the power consumption of my sound card!
Would it be able to power my:
M-Audio 1814 FireWire sound card???- Asked by John M

AnswerLike the other anwser said: the adapter can provide 7W of power. The Fire standard (IEEE 1394) says that the max output is 30 V @ 1.5 amps so 45W. Seeing the size of your device and its complexity, there is a good chance it will require more than 7W of power and the provided adapter is 12V @ 1 amp so 12W (although an adapter is rarely used at full capacity). Unless they completely oversized their power adapter, you may need to plug it in.
This adapter looks much more built to access FireWire external harddrives that are either self powered of portable and thus less power hungry.

Will this adapter work with a 4th gen ipad

Best Answer:Perhaps you have confused Lightning and Thunderbolt.
The iPad 4th gen has the former, this is the latter, for connecting FireWire devices (Video cameras, hard drives etc to Macs)
You need this instead: "Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader" it will read the card without the need for the FW adapter.

AnswerThe mid 2007 iMacs should have a FW 800 jack suitable for an FW 800 cable that will connect to this adapter. If you have the cable, Migration Assistnt should work.

With the use of the Thunderbolt to FireWire Adapter, can I attach a FireWire drive, or even a FireWire chain of drives, to a Thundebolt drive?
I have an existing chain of two FireWire hard drives, currently attached directly to the FireWire port of an iMac. And I want to add a Thunderbolt drive soon, too, using the Thunderbolt port. But the newest iMacs don't have any FireWire port. So I want to be able to use both types of drive with the newest, and presumably future, Macs.

Best Answer:Yes using the adaptor on one thunderbolt port, you can link FireWire drive (I assume ypur drove is FW800. I have 4 fw drives linked to an adaptor on my retina MacBook Pro. You should be able to do this on the newly released iMac too. Note that USB3 is faster than FireWire 800. I am starting to change my drives and USB 3 is great but the only downside is that you can't link the drives up like FireWire 800.
