    Fantastic BT Earbuds

    These are what I have been waiting for someone to invent for the longest time. The sound is fantastic. The bass is superb and music sounds excellent. Can't recommend them enough. Worth the money.

    Bad design or poor choice of battery suppilers

    Today, my BlueBuds X died, this is my second pair. When I attempt to charge them, the light immediately turns green, but they cannot be turned on. I don't ware them when I work out because they fit poorly when I sweat. For the price, these headphones should be able to last AT LEAST three years, but Jaybird evidently wants to make money swapping out their junk product. I cannot recommend this product or any product that is offered by this company since they obviously think too much of their product. Wish I could have given them 0 stars.

    Destined for your junk drawer

    I bought these a month and a half ago. I had to replace them a week after i bought them because the first set refused to take a charge. I thought it was a fluke. Six weeks later my second set has done the same thing. I decided to google "jaybirds won't take a charge" and lo and behold there is a world of folks out there who have bought these headsets and are holding a hundred and fifty dollar pair of junk. The sound IS good but if they aren't working that isn't much of a recommendation. There appears to be a battery design flaw and no one wants to admit to that so they blame everything from the charger to improper usage to anything else that keeps them from admitting they are selling junk.

    I'd say these are the best you're going to get for bluetooth headphones - sound is really good, they're comfortable, lightweight, and super convenient. really, amazing idea.

    i do have some issues with the design, which unfortunately detracts from the quality. one being the cable tie method in the back (they cables will eventually slide out very easily - i ended up having to tape the cables in place)

    the other thing is the way the earplugs slide on to the unit. they pop off. the little ear shield part as well, there is nothing to actually hold it on aside from the friction of the rubber and plastic, so they will eventually fall off and you lose them. I had a pair of these for about a year, and now the left speaker has blown. these do good sound deadening, so i don't even listen to them loud.

    I also had an issue where the power button simply wouldn't work unless i plugged them in to usb for a moment. i would have them on the charger at work, i would unplug them and walk to the train, try to turn them on and nothing. as if the battery was completely drained. when this happens, if i momentarily plug them in to USB and unplug them again, they will then turn on, and last me the life of the battery. just kind of a weird glitchy thing that happened off and on.
    basically, just some quality control issues and some not-so-thought-out design choices that frustrate me.

    that said, i need a pair of bluetooth in-ear headphones, and these are the best option...so im off to buy another pair now.

    Good design. Not sweatproof.

    Really wanted to love these headphones. Design is very good, with ability to loop cables over your ears if you need more stability when exercising. Also provides small "clips" so cable doesn't sit on your neck when working it, which would be annoying and is how the older version works unfortunately.

    Where these fall down, and in a very serious way, is they don't withstand sweat as advertised. While there is a lifetime warranty against malfunction due to sweat (buyer beware: at company's discretion), my headphones fail in less than 90 days every single time I've owned them when I've worked out regularly. It becomes such a pain to have to send them back (at your own expense, at least the first few times) and wait for your new ones to arrive.

    I'd look elsewhere. Can't stress this enough. The older version with a less attractive design is much more resistant to sweat.

    The Worst

    These are the worst ear buds ever. I am an ultra runner. They have not stayed in my ears more than five steps. EVER!.

    'buds not re-charging

    Once I'd sorted the fit in the ears out all was going fine until, one day, the 'buds would not take a charge. Reading thru' the reviews, this appears to be a common type of failure in what should be a premium product. Not impressed. Until Jaybird address and rectify this fault I'd buy something else.

    Now I've gone through two sets of these. Both failed due to sweat I presume.
    I love the low profile, great sound, and good fit. They just don't last.

    Sound good, USB cable faulty

    I picked this up as a replacement for a set of Bowers & Wilkins C5 thinking I'd like a nice BT headset. They sounded very nice, fit seemed good, although I wasn't able to use the ear locking things. I'm not sure how well they would stay in if I got hot and started sweating. My problem was with the USB cable. The first time I tried to charge them, the metal end of the cable plugged into the charger broke off when I pulled the cable out. For the price of these, I would have expected better quality.

    When they work, they're great

    When they work, the sound and quality is great. I've had multiple issues with them not working. Not holding a charge, and then Jaybirds the company hasn't been that responsive. I love the no wires, but this is the third brand of BT headphones and I may have to go back to the dreaded wires.

    Awesome look, average sound, low bass, expensive!!! A tip for runners!

    For those actually reading beyond the title, I use headphones for running and cycling. I used to have wired Westone 3, with 3 dedicated drivers and a sound out of this world. Then I washed them with my running clothes.

    For biking I need something wireless and I understand the limitations of Bluetooth technology. I used the Jabra bluetooth headphones and while not as cool looking as the JayBirds, the sound was not much worse. Mind you, they cost €20!

    While I can afford €179.95 JayBirds, I am disappointed that their sound profile is rather average and lacking on the bass. I am not looking for a replacement of +€400 Westone's. But I'd really appreciate a more bass in the Jaybirds.

    The fit and over the ear wear is fine, they are secure while biking or running (did 19km run with them no problem). They do not tire the ear even after 2-3 hrs which is nice.

    A tip for runners, if the signal is falling out while having the iPhone on one arm, try switching the arm on which you wear the iPhone. It went from dropping the signal on my right hand to 100% perfection while wearing it on my left hand. So yes, the connection stays stable.

    Would these be €50-70 I'd accept all the shortcomings, but at €179.95 they are insanely overpriced.

    Couldn't get fit to work

    Had these headphones for a couple of weeks. I've concluded I can never get used to the fit. They won't sit correctly, resulting in loss of bass. Decided to sell oh craigslist and get another over the ear type. Some people may get the fit to work for them, but many including me could not. Try before you buy.

    What do you mean by Premium?

    My Jaybird Blue X Premiums have a crackly and intermittent connection. I literally have to sit with my cheek up to the screen of my Macbook Pro to get a connection that isn't just awful. If you are sitting less than one foot away from your laptop transmitting the Blue-Tooth signal, forget about it. Its so choppy and static ridden, its just a waste of effort to charge (the charger cord is awkward anywhere you put it), and connect and INSTALL THEM INTO YOUR EAR. After 9 attachment options they still won't remain in place on the earpieces, or in my ear. And I'm supposed to be doing outdoor active things while using my Jaybirds? No way, they'd be lost or thrown out in frustration within 10 minutes of a jog. I'd rather be connected with a wired pair if I have to sit this close to my computer. However, the sound blocking feature is very true and does enhance the quality of sound for what its worth. At the price I paid for these "premium" blue tooth headphones, I'd expect a listening experience to be far less FUSSY! Maybe we should discuss how the word "premium" is a subjective term and apparently I have a very different idea of what it should mean compared to Jaybird. The sound quality is very good if you can get them to connect and aren't moving around AT ALL. Tilt your head back to rest while watching a movie and it sounds like opening candy wrapper or eating potato chips. Perhaps my pair is defective and I should speak with the company. The other difficulties regarding the design of the earbuds I can live with I suppose, but at $180 with Blue tooth issues in the year 2014??, I draw the line...absolutely not! Thanks for reading! :)

    Great sounding, reliable headphones

    I've been using these for almost a year now, and there's little negative I can say about them. The sound is very good, great noise-cancelling (I use them a lot for flying), and they fit like a glove for me. I've been especially impressed with the wireless reliability: I usually keep my iPhone in my pocket, and it's rare when the connection is disrupted. Highly recommended.

    Almost perfect!

    I was looking for a pair of wireless in-ear headphones for workouts and, after trying multiple brands (Denon, JBL, Motorola, Plantronics, Sony, Yurbuds), I need up returning them all. I ended up keeping these after witnessing the battery life and sound they provided over the others. Not to mention the ease of use with the iPhone and Siri worked great. That being said, I couldn't keep ANY headphones in my ears for a long period of time without my ears hurting, including the Jaybirds.

    I ended up keeping the Bluebuds though because I decided to try a pair of custom ear molds. Decibullz makes ear molds specifically for the Bluebuds for really cheap. Once I put them on, I couldn't believe just how comfortable they felt. I barely knew they were there.

    Horrible fit

    Maybe these headphones just aren't for me. I mean, the earbuds don't really fit that well. I have to push them in to hear the low notes. And even then, the sound isn't incredible. The sales guy at the Apple store told me he ordered some memory foam tips that improve sound quality. I m-a-y give them a try. But after reading the reviews about sweat, I may be better off just returning them and finding different ones. I'll be returning them tomorrow.

    NOT for Working OUT

    Sweat ruins these headphones. Shows fully charged but will not turn on. Great for music while doing tasks while you are not sweating. Also Used while playing basketball with no issues. But extreme workouts that cause profuse sweating will cause these to stop working. Not worth a buck and a half

    Unfortunately you can't try or test them when you buy at the Apple SHop. After figuring out the different ear-buds and the ways you can wear them I was trying and testing the past 3-4 weeks again and again to find a comfortable and secure the wear them. Impossible. And my ears are not special at all. The sound quality is very disappointing. Even the standard iPhone 5s headphones are fitting better and the sound is much better. I was exited to find this earphones in the first place since I was looking for the right music gear for running but this was the worst purchase this year.

    My experience with these has been almost entirely positive!
    Battery life is best I've seen
    Easy to wear and don't fall out (disclaimer: I wear earplugs at work, so I don't mind them stuffed in my ear canals)
    Easily switches from one device to the next, unlike most Bluetooth headsets
    Controls on device are easy to use and intuitive
    Battery meter on Apple devices
    Best sound I've ever heard for an in-ear device, wired or Bluetooth
    The earphone tips, although adequate, limit bass performance. If you stuff them deep in your ear canal everything is improved, but movement of the jaw causes them to back out a bit and letting in outside noise and bleeding out bass. I fixed this with COMPLY Premium Earphone Tips, but these cost extra, are harder to get in your ears & disintegrate over time.
    No battery meter on non-Apple devices
    Not everything I want on the equipment's controls are there (e.g. hang up a phone call)

    I've had two co-worker buy these after seeing mine and they are as happy as I am.

    Not sweatproof...

    Wore these for running for two weeks, first failure after 7 runs - just stops playing, as though the control has been activated (NOT A BATTERY PROBLEM). Doesn't begin working properly again until dried out. Gave it 5 more runs, had the same issue runs 11 & 12. They remain in-ear as advertised, and battery life is good (pluses). Even tried using the supplied ties to keep the controller from touching me, but it still failed, though only marginally wet with sweat. If they were sweatproof, I would have kept them. Ended up returning them. Great idea, and if truly sweatproof, I would still have them. Probably deserves more stars for fit & sound, however, that doesn't count if they just shut off.
