Excellent update to the original Wi-Fi body scale

    • Written by from OXFORD

Decided to upgrade from the original scale to this new Smart body analyser and very pleased with the extra features.

The setup is very easy and my profile now shows all my previous readings and combines with this new scale.
The heart rate monitor is surprisingly accurate and saves having to use a dedicated monitor for day to day use.

Not sure how useful the Weather report is, although the Co2 Air quality should prove helpful.

All in all, a worthwhile purchase

    Withings Smart Body Analyzer

Real useful and fun scale. A little disappointed with the wifi-connection. the scale can't connect to my Apple Airport Extreme, due to it works only at the 2,4 GHz-band. Apple Airport Extreme works both at 2,4 GHz and 5 GHz-band. So I wonder my they not connect.

    Super Cool Scale

I like this scale a lot! The only issue I have is that I have to go through the trouble of reconnecting it to my phone through Bluetooth every single time I use it and that can be annoying. Other than that, it is a great scale with some awesome features.

Easy to use Scale with a good range of features

    • Written by from Tacoma

Scale is very easy to use after the initial data sync and set up, it will just automatically sync.

You can rearrange the data items it displays per user to your liking from the app, but it displays steps logged, weight, weather (very handy), air quality(also very handy), pulse and BMI(useless). BMI us completely useless for me, as I am muscular for my height, so it calculates that I have something like 80% body fat.

I like the proactive attitude of the company, they are constantly refining and adding features to their products. hopefully they will remove the BMI and replace it with something useful soon.

    Very good scale and more

Excellent scale, nice additional information about everything from the number of steps yesterday to body fat to the weather, if you want it.

The body fat percentage and pulse measurements are a little iffy- a wide variety of measurements of the first and stand still or the pulse reading will fail for the second.

The integration into the app makes it much more useful- showing trend and whole health measurements.

    Great scale

    hi,

Bought this a couple of months ago and has worked very well. Links up with wifi and scale automatically sync and updates my iPhone app. Not too sure about accuracy of heart rate monitor and fat mass readings. They tend to fluctuate substantially despite the fact that I weigh always in the morning on an empty stomach. Clearly don't need heart rate reading from the scale as have polar monitor and iwatch.

    Still would highly recommend.

I don't know what other people are doing with their scale: it is simple to connect them with your phone via bluetooth, than app transfers your wi-fi network data ant it works! Every morning, while it measure my weight, it shows weather forecast, CO2 and temperature in my bedroom.

    Meh.....

It's a pretty good gimmick if you like to track your progression and all. I am having issues with it reading my HR. I have been emailing CS about this issue and they have been instructing me on a variety of potential solutions to help fix this problem.
So right now, nothing has worked but I will try again to see if I can get it function as advertised. It has something to do with the firmware and I need to update it. The bollocking continues......

I was hesitant in buying this scale because of the price but I ended up loving it. I hate to step on scales but I needed to track my weighloss after WLS. I'm not sure how accurate it is but it guides my progress very well. I do have problems with it registering my heart rate so that's the reason I could not give it 5 stars. I never figured out the reason for the air quality monitor but hey the more features the better. It was easy to set up and sync to my phone and it also syncs to My fitness pal which I love.

Almost Perfect - GREAT CONCEPT - FOUR STARS

    • Written by from Phoenix

It looks beautiful, very elegant design, looks like a black slab of glass.

Pairs to phone (BlueTooth) and connects to home wireless (802.11) very easily, very well designed integration, it is very EASY, if you just glance at quick start guide.

Once connected, it's rock solid, have had ZERO problems w/it dropping off. Note when batteries ran out, and had to be replaced, I had to re-pair, took all of 15 seconds (AFTER I found quick start, so don't lose it!!!)

Accurate readings for weight, Heart Rate, BF is hard, so I don;t know if accurate, it SEEMS accurate, and then Co2 level, have NO clue why CO2 is measured.

    What I don't like:
I am a cyclist, my weight fluctuates 5-10 lbs after a long ride, normally 205, after a 50-75 mile ride, I might be 195. Scale does not recognize me, so only measures weight, until I tell it it's me, and it passes the data, then I have to weight again, since I ride every week, this happens multiple times a week, a real pain.

Body Fat - I have mine set to Athlete, it appears to provide accurate (between 10-12% on the scale, but when data is passed to app on Phone and web site, that doubles to 20%-22%, which is NOT accurate.

For the BF, seems like just a bug, for 1st issue, there should be a fix for that too, especially since I am only one using scale.

Those two issues drop from 5 stars to 4.

I love my scale, and I recommend, and would buy again, just wish they would fix theses two annoying issues.

    Somewhat flawed

    • Written by from Ottawa

I've been using this scale for about 3 months now; initially, I had a heck of a time pairing it with my iPad 4th-gen over Bluetooth. Took 4-5 tries, but once I was connected and the scale weighed me properly, I had few issues. The key is that you need to install the Withings free iOS App and select and synchronize the Scale. This will check if there's a Firmware update, and i've had two so far. Sensitivity was increased and tweaked, and it has become better with time. Likewise, if the Scale is not PERFECTLY level on the floor - either carpeted or laminated/tiled/hardwood - essentially, if all four feet aren't making contact on a level floor, you will have wildly different measured weights, and the scale won't associate your weight with your 'account', and then fail at Heart Rate, BMI, Fat%, etc. The Withings App is very good, and ties in to other paid and free Apps that track nutrition etc. But as with other reviews, unless you're standing perfectly perpendicular to the scale, the measured weight will flip-flop all over the place, as much as 5-10 pounds or kilograms, and you will lose patience fast. I've become used to it, and it's the only scale that goes up to shy of 400 lbs.

It's a great device but not that useful.

    • Written by from Halifax

It's nice that it can measure the air quality and temperature but almost nobody needs those things. The most important job is measuring the weight that you can do it with a normal 10$ scale. But I really like the graphing because you can see the change in yourself.
If you have enought money I would suggest it.

Good tool to track your progress.

    • Written by from nepean

If you're serious about your nutrition/fitness goals this scale is a great tool. The online weight and fat tracking graphs are great. The one negative I would say is that it's a bit expensive for what it is. But if you're serious about your goals this may be a good tool to have.
