    DO NOT BUY. VERY DISAPPOINTING.

    • Written by from Belfast

The product is way overrated, overpriced, and the company service is not very helpful. The product is faulty - the bluetooth does not connect well and I can revise my notes from my computer. The notes that have gone through the sync was distorted and it does not end up what I hoped it would be. Apparently I realised you cannot write fast with that pen, so why bother to buy it when you can record it from your phone (Evernote) instead. I tired to talk to the Livescribe customer service but they did not seem to take the problem into account. That having to speak if iPhone 6 and the latest mac book pro is not compatible to the product then what is?

Weak software support and pen construction

    • Written by from San Diego

I guess the OCR software is as good as you can expect for handwriting but it's weak to the point of useless. I would have to spend much more time correcting spelling and formatting mistakes than just the time it takes to retype my notes.

The pen itself has a few design flaws. The pen section has fallen out a few times and been lost. The on-off switch is sensitive to the point that just inserting the pen into the journal holder accidentally activates the pen making me have to recharge way too often. The USB cover is flimsy and falls off also.

Other than that, it's nice to have a digital archive of my notes...

    Less Isn't More

    • Written by from Los Angeles

Several features were dropped with the latest Smartpen. If you do not have either an iPhone 5 or a 2nd generation iPad or later, you cannot transfer your written text to your computer. This is an essential feature and this should be addressed as soon as possible. In addition, this pen does not record meetings either, so you are limited to finding your notes in your notebook. Finally, there should be a way to transfer notes directly from the Smartpen via a USB cable. If I had been aware of this, I would not have purchased this product.

Livescribe got it right this time !!

    • Written by from Swindon

I do a lot of business meetings and travelling. I use this Livescribe 3 Pro Smart pen for my business meetings. The pen looks good and is not at all heavy like the previous one. So you can write longer. The pen also has a decent battery life. I have used it continuously for a 4 hour meeting without a problem.
The recording feature allows me to revisit my notes in 2 formats. I can now revise and carry on where we left off in the previous meeting by just putting on my headphones and going through my previous notes when in flight. So I am the first one to accurately summarise the previous discussion. This makes my meetings effective.

I just wish the pen could have more types of inks (Colors and textures e.g. like what a pilot pen would write). But I am sure they will come up with something. :)
