    Power Adapter Works Superbly

First, I am in a wheelchair so the floor is convenient to place the laptop down while I go from my chair to my wheelchair. My adapter works well even though while moving it I stepped on the computer end and it came apart--the round head came apart from the little wires that go into your computer. It works fine because I simply pushed it back together. Why am I buying another one? Because I want to have an adapter in the living room and one in the bedroom (-:

I have been a fan of Apple since 85-86 and there have been no problems at all. FYI: I am 68, did my own graphic design business, retired and I use Apple--everyday. From desktop to laptop, about 10 computers, every new one was based upon my supposed need, and they were/are great.

    Apple MagSafe Power Adaptor

I have been reading several reviews on here, and also have had experience with my own MagSafe adaptor, my partner's with her adaptor, her two daughter's with their adaptors, and my own 3 daughters with their adaptors. First and foremost, let us agree that these adaptors are not indestructible. They will break most commonly at the wire connection going into the MagSafe power box, or at the L or T connector. The question is really, how much care or abuse are you going to subject your MagSafe to? I have worked as an audiovisual tech for a number of years, and have taught them all to wind the cords a certain way to prevent kinking or twisting in the wire (especially after they destroyed their original chargers). Many people like to wind the cord around the two tabs provided on the MagSafe charger box, but when you do this, you put a tremendous strain on the wire which only shortens the life of the unit. Secondly, I have always emphasized not pulling on the cord to disconnect the charger, but rather grabbing the head or the MagSafe charger box. These chargers can last a number of years if you take care of them. I am still working with my original charger from 2008 - 7 years.

    Ehhhhhhh

Second one in 3 years. For what Apple charges for their products you would think there would be a more reliable charger.

Has lasted 7 YEARS and COUNTING!

I bought my macbook pro in 2008 and have used it A LOT going through medical school and beyond. I have the ORIGINAL charger from 2008 and it is still in great shape with no tears (just looks dirty now). I take it everywhere- coffee shops, libraries, everywhere I have studied and even drag it along the floor moving from one couch to another, and it is still in great shape! Which makes me think:

WHAT ARE PEOPLE DOING TO THEIR CHARGERS to make them break in 2 months (previous reviews) when mine has lasted 7 brutal years and counting!?!!

Im finally upgrading to the new 12 macbook but will be giving my current mac and CHARGER to my nephew for continued use.

    Does Not Last...

This is the third time I'm replacing my Apple 60W MagSafe Power Adapter. The design is WACK. The soft material that the cord is made from breaks very quickly… Thinking about buying a cheaper version. I'll see how that works….

    Terrible Product

I've gone through three of these having a macbook pro for about 5 years. The first one I had lasted the longest but the second and third only lasted about a year each before breaking.

Dear Apple its a little thing that makes experience of using devise worse. We all want that revolution, when apple accessories would be best like apple devices!

    Such a bad product.

It's not even been a year and i'm about to be on my third charger. I am a university student so this thing does go back and forth with me to uni everyday, but i make sure to stash the charger neatly in my bag, wound like it comes in the box.

    Worst charger design

Bought a mac 4 years back and i love my mac, but as much as I love my mac, I hate my magsafe charger. Its a badly designed product, it just isn't suitable for normal day to day use. I have bought 4 chargers, each an year, because all of the chargers got ripped off from the head. At least they are consistent with ripping off every year. And to top all of this, every time you go to the store with the broken charger, asking the service people for help, you get to know that its your fault as a user, you don't know how to use a charger. I mean really ? These are the standards Apple is maintaining ? If your charger is not designed in a way to take wear and tear each day, its our fault ?? Around the world people are making chargers, and none of them go bad as easily as this one, none of them have such bad reviews. Maybe its time Apple takes up the responsibility of their badly designed product, and stop blaming their own customers cause at the end we always have a choice of never coming back to a company, while you guys rely on us.

    Here we go again!!

I would say don't buy as it is probably going to need replacing in a year or two but not purchasing means loss of use from your laptop.

    Poorly Designed

The insulation on these adapters frays within 1 year of regular use. Meanwhile, the adapter for my gateway laptop has been intact for about 5 years. It's much sturdier than this 60W MagSafe Adapter.

    OMG don't understand Apple

I'm kinda mad right now, I go to a school that use macbook pros and I have to replace the charger cause it broke. I love Apple I have an Iphone 6 plus and love it but it makes me mad that I'm having to pay $79 for a whole charger and only need one of the two pieces and it would be the cheapest one. The charger was made out of cheap stuff considering it broke in one and a quarter years. Please Apple, I beg of you fix this.

    power adaptor failure

I love the high quality of Apple's products. Unfortunately, the power adaptor is one of the few exceptions .
I have a macbook bought at 2009. Until now I have replaced the adaptor 4 times. Every adaptor lasts only 1-2 years.
I have engineering background. There is a very apparent mechanic design issue : " tail wagging the dog". The cable connected to macbook is thin and long. The transformer connected to the outlet is bulky and heavy. Any twisting or sudden movements of the cable will cause the " tail wagging the dog" effects , which , of cause , will damage the cable connection. This seems a long time problems. The adaptors should be back the drawing board. Hope Apple will improve it soon
