    Worst adapter ever!

Too bad you can't give 0 stars. I have his adapter for 1 year and 8 months now and there's nothing left of it: the rubber cable is eating itself, it seems, leaving the wires vulnerable for whatever that can affect them. The worst part is that customer service does nothing about it, so you'll have to buy another adapter that costs 80 euro's with the only guarantee that you have to buy again after a year or so. Apple is known for reliable products, well there's a surprise.
One solution though: use special tape (not sticky tape) to cover the cable..

    2 chargers in 2 years - MADNESS

Why spend so much money on a good laptop to have to work with a horrible charger. The covering breaks and exposes wires and who knows if it won't catch on fire soon. Apple you need to do better. Im on to buy my third one now or maybe i should just buy a PC !!!

    Breaks!

Have had my mac for a little over a year now, and my charger covering has broken in 3 places -- wires are now exposed. How could you make sure a cheap product with such poor design?

    Bad material

I had several iPhone's chargers with the cords broken after few months. Now, the same thing happened with my MacBook Pro charger. The cord had broken and I'll will have to buy a new one after using it not too much and being sure that I'll have to replace it after few months again...
Complaining at the store is not worth because you're told that you did not take care of it. I can say that I have a special case for all my chargers but it's not enough.
I love Apple's products but the company must improve the quality of the chargers.
Hope to be helped by the company.

Had to replace it after 2 years

Yesterday I bought a new power adapter because the one that came with my MacBook was broken. In my opinion, that's unacceptable. This adapter cost me €89 and broke down because of poor design. In the Apple Store the salesperson told me that I shouldn't roll up the cable anymore to prevent damage next time. But the thing is, I roll up the cable because of the clips that help you to roll up the cable, so is it my fault or Apple's? I understand you can't make a perfect adapter but please design one next time where you can replace just the cable that goes into your laptop instead of the whole thing.

    Bad design

The part that is most likely to brake and fray is directly connected to the transformer so when that brakes you have no choice but to buy a whole brand new 80$ charger...

I wish I could give it less than one star...

Seriously terrible. I probably won't get another apple laptop simply because the charger is terrible. Broke within a year. Wouldn't replace it. To get it repaired is more than a new one. And there is no other option!! $100 every year for a new charger for a laptop that you pay over $1000 on is ridiculous. So upset!! Apple!! Fix this issue!

60W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter MB Pro 13 in retina display

Terrible that I am replacing this so soon. Complete turnoff. Had my Toshiba laptop for forever and never had a problem with their cords. Then to be charging $80.00 for them....well, that's a ripoff. Make me start to think I made a big mistake going with Apple, so may go back to PC when I need a new laptop. My cord is almost completely severed and I have been nursing it for a long time, but low and behold, tonight I had work I needed to get done for tomorrow morning and I can't get this thing to charge.....not good! I have not had the laptop that long either!!!

    Cheap

It is ridiculous how quickly this charger falls apart. I am so furious that I paid so much for my computer and now my charger has come apart. The casing on the outside just fell off and the wires became exposed. The worst part is that I have no options, I have to buy an $80 dollar replacement that will mostly go bad before the year is up. Seriously shoddy product.

Great charger, but falls apart quickly

I've owned three of these, and each have torn at spot where the thin cord meets the base. It's a fatal design flaw, that lasts (with how frequently I use it) about 1.5 years each time, then dies suddenly, meaning it's no longer covered under warranty, and I'm expected to spend another $80 to buy a new one.

When this tear happens it creates a potential fire hazard, and can harm the computer due to electrical surges. It's also not obvious that it's going to happen until the moment the rubber coating rips, which seems to happen when the cord burns – not very safe...

    Too expensive, Poor quality

I despise this charger. The first charger that I owned broke within 5 months of my purchase. After purchasing another charger, I took every precaution to make sure I never kinked or bent the cord. If I ever took the cord with me, I never coiled it around the power brick, as it allows you to do. Even after constantly making sure that the cord never had any strain put on it, it still stopped working after 8 months. Apple definitely needs to redesign all of their chargers or allow third parties to make something that will actually work for over a year.

    Absolute Garbage

Because it sticks straight out from the computer instead of orienting itself alongside the way the MagSafe (not 2) does, the wire is constantly being bent one way or the other. This results in damage to the wire – within a year, the wire has become fully exposed and frayed to the point that it no longer works. Frayed at the other end too.

    Very bad quality.

After less than a year of use I had to purchase a new MagSafe 2 Power Adapter. Right now, after a 3-year-use of my macbook pro I will be purchasing my third MagSafe.

    Just stopped working!

After owning all Windows computers previously I decided to buy a MacBook for the first time about 14 months ago. I rarely use this computer, maybe a few times a week for a few hours, sometimes it sits on my desk unused for days on end. As you can guess based on my usage I rarely have to charge it, maybe once a week on average. My charger stays in one place and I don't travel with it, which means I don't wrap it or twist it to store it or take it anywhere, so it's not like the cable gets damaged. It looks brand new. Last week I plug in the charger and my screen starts flickering lighter and darker, the battery icon on the screen is flickering very fast between charging and not charging, and the green light on the MagSafe plug is flashing rapidly, and of course it wasn't charging. After doing lots of research online (on another divide because of course I could no longer charge my MacBook) I read that this is a horrible piece of charger and many people have problems with them. I tried some resets that I read Apple recommends, but nothing worked. So then I borrowed my brother's charger and that one worked, so my charger apparently just stopped working. While my brother's charger works, it's about two years old but it's almost falling apart. That's the quality of things that Apple makes. I'm convinced that they make their accessories and peripherals and cables to last a very short time so that you have no choice but to keep buying replacements from them, (because the ones on Amazon for example are reviewed as "exploded" and "gets too hot". AWFUL QUALITY, APPLE. Stop being so pretentious and fix this.

    first time in 15 years

I have owned many laptops for the past 15 years. Have never had any issues with adapters/chargers before. This one first lost its connection ability with the computer, I had to adjust it to make it work. And finally, the other end of the same cord (i.e. the one between the Mac and the adapter) is broken. I personally know other Macbook owners suffering from the same issue. And $80 is unacceptable. I am just carrying the adapter in my backpack and using it as a human. So, that's not a customer problem. Why Apple punishes us because of its unqualified items, nonsense!

Worst quality charger I have ever owned

On my second Magsafe 2 in two years. It is completely frayed and held together by electrical tape, only charges when plugged in a a very specific angle after many tries. How have a company as big as Apple got something so simple so wrong? And $80 for a replacement. Joke.

    Frayed cable?

I have a good fix for my 13" Macbook Pro. Wrap the cable with gaffer's tape. It's working, and everybody notices the tape, because it's black on white. I'm a walking advertisement for Apple, at the library or the university--my battery life is sufficient, but I like to plug in my ugly cord so everybody can see it. There's just no way I'll buy another, aware that it fails and fails and fails--at eighty bucks a pop!

Don't buy a new cord! Don't be ripped-off! Tape it up real ugly and nobody will envy you, and Apple will get exactly the attention they deserve!
