    Third time's a charm...

Headed to the Apple store today to purchase my third charger for my two year old computer. The 85W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter gets extremely hot. It doesn't matter if it's floating magically in the air, it still gets extremely hot. The cord that connects from the MagSafe to the computer is also fried. My first cord I was a little careless... plugging it in here and there, allowing the cords to fall freely. My second charger I was a lot more cautious with. Allowing it to be plugged into one plug. Sit in one space and lay a certain way, as to not bend, move, or even breathe in fear of splitting the cords. It didn't matter... my cord has split and needs to be replaced. So disappointing when spending nearly $3,000 on a laptop.

    Not durable at all

Could give a 0-star if possible. Merely one year has passed and the end of the cord that connects to the power adaptor is done, worn out totally. I suggest those Apple engineers: 1. redesign this adaptor, instead of a whole "adaptor+cord" design, make it detachable with small parts (adaptor, cord with USB interface, etc.), the part that are easily worn out (e.g. the cord) should be replaced separately at its own cost; 2. please make its quality match its price.

    So very bad

The charger wears out quickly (lasts slightly over a year).
    Expensive to replace.
The old "L design" was superior as it does not fallout accidentally so easily.
    Great laptop, terrible charger.

    Terrible Design and Quality

This really is not a well designed product. I have had the 2013 MBP for a little over two years, and rarely use the adapter. It has been wrapped as advised (HT201600) and stored in a protected bag compartment. I carefully rewrap the cable every time I do use it.

    Some tips:

    - design the cord so that the cable is properly protected when wrapped
    - design the cord so it's obvious how to wrap it (although even this doesn't seem to work)

    That's it. Simple huh?

    Disappointing.

Disappointed with the quality of this power adaptor. It frankly is a safety hazard. The casing has broken down and the wires are exposed at the base of the adaptor (wish I could attach a picture). Further, the adaptor becomes very warm. I feel it is a fire hazard. Out of fear for myself and my neighbors, I am forced to replace this shoddy product. There are much cheaper options available online without the AC cord (this portion of the cord is fine) however I am leery to mix and match products. I have only owned this product for 28 months and with a purchase price of over $1400 I had expected much more. A very inferior charger for a superior computer. Apple, I am disappointed.

    Poor Quality!!

I am buying a new power adapter every year, and I am not happy about it! This is my 3rd one. They are not cheap! I like the magnetic attachment, but this product is designed very poorly. There really isn't any alternative to getting another one when the old one stops working.

The worst Apple product. Three cables within two years

Really the worst product apple ever made! the wire breaks easily and here I am paying almost $300 to keep replacing it. Apple, please find another solution. This is just not Apple at all!

Horrible quality chargers, DO NOT Waste your money

I've had my laptop for about 14 months so I am no longer under a warranty and I just noticed my charger starting to fray a couple weeks ago. Now it is to the point where I can see the wires because the white coating is split. This is a serious hazard and apple needs to make better quality chargers. This is ridiculous and I am extremely disappointed. I was thinking about switching from my android to an iphone, but not now.

    Terrible and expensive

I love my MacBook Pro, best laptop I've had, hands down. However, the chargers are just absolutely worthless. My laptop is only three years old and the original charger lasted about a year, maybe a year and a half, before it suddenly just stopped working. One day it was charging, and the next it did nothing. So I had to replace it. The one I have now is falling apart, there is bare wire in three or four different places. And it isn't like I just throw my charger around or don't take care of it. This wouldn't be so much of an issue if it weren't for the fact that replacing it is so expensive! Now I have to shell out $80 that I don't have to spare if I want to keep using my laptop. It's just ridiculous. No charger should cost this much.

    Another Charger

I bought my MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2013) on September 2013, the original charger lasted exactly 1 year, the second one lasted 2 and a half year and now I'm buying the third one.

Can I give this adapter 0 star ?

please change the product name to Garbage Adapter to match its quality.
The rubber coating next to the mag connector fell off less than 1 year with moderate use.
My old 2009 MBP's power adapter doesn't have the same issue after so many years of usage.
Is it too hard for Apple to "maintain" old quality standard.

    Worst ever!

I've already had three in the last 5 years and I have to buy a new one again now! They're very expensive. Shame on you, Apple! This is the last product I'll ever buy from you.

    5 chargers in 3 years.

You would think after all of the 1 star reviews that apple would fix the wire issues. Always the same issues. The wiring at the top fried and I have to keep taping it with electrical tape. Even then it shorts out a day or two later. Unacceptable apple. And 80 dollars for a new one??? Come on.

    Frustrating

Like most people my charger is starting to fail in less than a year. Basically charges my laptop whenever it wants. Very frustrating. Please change the current charger to something that won't give out in a short amount of time!!!!!!

    Not durable

Why does the MagSafe Adapter cord have to be so cheap and flimsy? Even under normal use it is easily kinked and damaged. Why not make the entire cord thick and durable? Or at least offer a choice between the current lightweight, non durable cord or a heavyweight durable cord. I would rather have the extra bulk than have to replace the cord frequently. At least lower the price since apparently Apple thinks this is a disposable piece. I really think it will be worth a try to find a non apple replacement. Going to look on Amazon now.

    Frayed yet again...

Sick and tired of spending another $80 on these horrible power adapters every two years because of fraying until they no longer work. Apparently there was a replacement offered for these a while back - someone should have told my local Apple store, because when I went two years ago no one mentioned that and I had to buy a new one, and now I'm about to have to go in again because this one is so frayed that it no longer works.
