Beautiful Case - Slightly worried how well it will age.

    • Written by from Clones

I picked the red version of this case over the weekend, and I was absolutely delighted with it. It feels really nice in your hand and the quality is excellent, as is the fit.

However, in the past day or so I've noticed that the case is scuffing and becoming quite grubby looking already. This may just be because there's one or two marks on it at the moment and as a result they're standing out. In time it might age more evenly. Time will tell.

The opinion of a leather good designer

    • Written by from Dallas

So I design these things (SLGs) and so I bought one to try it out.

The leather is okay. Its more a glove leather with a slightly waxy hand. The color of the brown option, however, is pretty gross. It will patina and wear (probably quickly) and will hopefully get better. But brand new, it's cast is pretty fleshy.

Except for trying to get the phone out of the case, which can be a task at first, the construction is really good. The leather wraps from the outside into the interior bezel of the case and is cleanly finished at the back wall with some faux suede. No painted edge to peel off. The case is also very thin. Buttons have a little less tactile feedback because of the leather overlay.

All in-all, not bad. I just hope this color gets better.

    One Month In

    • Written by from Hermantown

I own the black, the red, and the tan iPhone 5S leather cases. I took some extra steps in preserving the leather knowing that any leather product that I've owned in my 30 years of life will eventually show wear. I applied several layers of water/oil proof spray (like you get at a shoe store) and leather multi-color wipes on my tan and red cases. On my black, I picked up a container of leather wipes (like you use in a car). All three look in perfect condition a month in. The tan doesn't have any dark marks on the buttons or anything else, neither does the red. The black looks better than when I first bought it.

I wear suites 5-6 days a week and typically won't put my leather cases in dark jeans.

These are great cases, with a little common sense, your money will be well spent.

Love it, but does soil easy

    • Written by from Mt. Vernon

I have the brown case on a white iPhone. It does soil pretty easy BUT The White pencil eraser works like magic. Rub it lightly and the case looks like new.

This case fits better than any of the other 10 cases I have. Very slim and looks like it belongs.bon the phone. Love it!

    Sleek but...

    • Written by from Winter Springs

Love the new leather case. It almost feels as if there isn't a case at all on the phone which I welcome because most cases add way too much bulk.

With that it is so very hard to remove. If you plan on leaving it on long term, go for it. If you're needing to remove the case for docking, etc. probably want to make a different choice. Although I must say I love it so much it is worth the struggle to remove it.

I've also been over cautious with setting the phone down because of the leather. Always worried if the surface is wet or not. I have the case roughly a week and already there is one little dot (stain) that's driving me crazy!

I purchased the RED one. Really love the case overall. I'm going to get the saddle tan one because I think that color will wear naturally and look good even if it is worn and stained.

    Extremely difficult to remove

    • Written by from Montreal

The case is beautiful and feels great. It is, however, extremely snug to the point where if you change your case often you will undergo a bit of a struggle (I have a wallet-case which I switch to when I leave the house, so changing my case happens several times a day). I worry the thin case will crack as I pry it off. It has a death grip on that phone. Plus, it pushes down on the lock button when you remove it from the top, and your phone will try to turn off.

If you intend to keep your case on "permanently," this is 10/10.

    Love my case

    • Written by from Onalaska

The case has worked very well for me and my wife. I have the black and she has the yellow. There was an issue with the power button the first day but it sorted its self out after a day. I think the leather just needed worked out. My AUX cords all fit and have never had any problems with head phones.
The only issue is the yellow started to look dirty after a week or so. Took a leather wipe to it and it cleaned up just fine. My wife loves her's and so do I. Thank you apple.

    Best case for iPhone!

    • Written by from Hattiesburg

I've always changed cases on my iPhones pretty regularly, but I think I'll be keeping this one for a while!

Great protection for everyday use. The leather case feels great in my hand and adds a little more to grip onto without adding any noticeable thickness to the phone at all!

My only complaint is that it is very difficult to remove and that's necessary with some accessories. It's still got a great fit on the phone though, even after I've taken it on and off several times.

Worth it, but not quite as "premium" as described

    • Written by from Brattleboro

I'm not a case person, but my 5 took enough abuse from a year of case-less use that I decided to get this for my 5S. As far as fit and finish go, this is a great case for the price. It looks professional and doesn't add considerable bulk up the phone.

The only downside is that the leather is definitely semi-aniline, so it doesn't exactly have the look and feel of real leather. I understand why Apple made this tradeoff with a product meant for mass market, but based on the product description I was expecting full aniline leather like the iPad cover.

    Great Apple case, but

    • Written by from madison

I needed a cover for my new 5s and decided to give this one a try. I have always, always, found apple cases/covers to be nothing special and way overpriced. I can easily say this is the best iPhone cover I have used to date, going back to the original iPhone. The case has a great feel, offers protection everywhere except the screen, and fits very snug. While it's still very overpriced at $39, I don't regret the purchase at all. My only dislike, aside from the price, are the available colors. They are just plain awful. They made 6 colors and none of them are really nice. The beige has a pinkish hue and I can't imagine anyone buying it.

To sum it up, great case, although overpriced with poor color selection.

    Great Case

    • Written by from Washington

I read the reviews and decided to go ahead and purchase the brown leather case for my white iphone. I really like the way that it looks.

It's a case, so there are sometimes compromises in that it does not work exactly the way that it used to. Some 3rd party lightning ports don't work, which is a bummer.

The case also ages because it's made of leather. Some people really don't like that. It's not clear the case is going to save your phone if you run it over with a mack tuck, but then again, how often are you really in that situation?

But all in all, the case fits the phone PERFECTLY, maintaining a very slim profile. I got this case to cover up all the nicks and scratches a year and a half of use can cause, and it does a great job. The case also makes my phone soft, which is a nice touch. So, I give it 4 stars for being a solid case. Sure, it's got flaws - but no case is perfect.

Nice case, but needs to be darker

    • Written by from Bowmanville

The colour of the brown case is more like "moccasin". It shows wear and dirt on the corners a bit. If it was a darker brown, it would be 5 stars. I've had mine for 2 months. I definitely would not recommend any of the lighter pastel colours. Black would not have the problem.

The case itself is great. Light, thin, good grip, nice thin lip to protect the front so you can put it face-down on a table.

Some people say it is hard to remove the case, but it is not too bad. Just pop the bottom out first. You do have to pry the phone out a bit after that, and it usually trips the silence-ringer switch, but it is good to know that the phone won't fall out of the case on its own.

Very nice case, but expensive for what you get

    • Written by from Calgary

I just finished using this case (Red one) for one month (and overseas for 14 days). I read all the reviews prior to buying it and the biggest fear was the case would show 'wear" very quickly. I used the phone as my primary camera on my trip, so it was in/out of my pocket each day many times a day (on the plane, train, bus). So I think this is about as much usage per day as possible.

The first two weeks while at home, it stayed very clean and fresh. I drive at home and use it very lightly. After my trip, it looked like it was "well used". The color changed to a deep red (rather than bright red). There were many marks on the edges surrounding the face. The back had slight discoloration for parts that were dirtier (I cleaned the case each day with a towel). Apple's description on the box does say the product will change color as it is used (I don't have the exact text in front of me), so this was expected.

Only slight concern was the leather was slightly pulling away around the top of the black ring that surrounds the camera lens. I took it to Apple store after my trip and the rep was nice enough to change it for me. This is when looking at a new case beside the used case that it was super obvious with the changes in color/wear.

I would have given 3 stars for the product overall, but since the rep changed it for me, I gave it 4 stars. If the price was a bit lower, I would give it 5 stars.

    PERFECT iPhone 5s Case

    • Written by from Pago Pago

I purchased a brown leather case. Feels great. Perfect fit. Light weight. Soft inner lining. Protects the phone all around when it drops, even the front. Well designed to contact the outer front rim of the casing before hitting the screen upon a drop or placement on a flat surface. Just a bit disappointed with the color beginning to fade along the edges. Soon going to turn from brown to black. A great buy.

Showcases the phone beautifully, with out adding bulk. Protection wise, you cannot compare it with the Otterbox cases. Overtime the case will grow into the old, worn-out and beaten look of patina on leather. Perfect for those who likes vintage. But if you would like to keep the case looking new longer, spray on some leather protectant before using. Available at all shoe repair places.

I purchased this case in Red when I got my iPhone 5S and the case feels great!! Adds some grip to the phone, its light, the buttons work great (power button is a little harder to press) and it looks very sleek. BUT after 1 day of owning the phone, the case was already starting to show wearing along the edges and any kind of scratch. If it weren't for my phone having bluetooth issues and me taking it back the next day for a new phone, I probably wouldn't have been able to swap it out with a black case. I have had the black case for a couple of months now and it still looks great. SO Great case... only if you get it in black!

Great fit but limits the performance of Siri.

    • Written by from Houston

I'm perplexed in my review here. For purely functioning as a case, this case is hands down the best case I have ever bought. Extremely snug fit. Great quality and meets my expectations for those aspects. I'm really particular in a case also protecting the corners because I have seen one too many broken screens for me to take a chance on a case not protecting the front. This case is designed to appear to leave the corners and front exposed, but it doesn't. It has a very small rise above the top all the way around to give me comfort there.

My one issue is this case has significantly degraded the microphone clarity. Siri doesn't recognize much anymore. I tested without the case and it's way better. I've tested with other cases and it's way better. So, I recommend this case but know that limit.
