    One Month In

    • Written by from Hermantown

I own the black, the red, and the tan iPhone 5S leather cases. I took some extra steps in preserving the leather knowing that any leather product that I've owned in my 30 years of life will eventually show wear. I applied several layers of water/oil proof spray (like you get at a shoe store) and leather multi-color wipes on my tan and red cases. On my black, I picked up a container of leather wipes (like you use in a car). All three look in perfect condition a month in. The tan doesn't have any dark marks on the buttons or anything else, neither does the red. The black looks better than when I first bought it.

I wear suites 5-6 days a week and typically won't put my leather cases in dark jeans.

These are great cases, with a little common sense, your money will be well spent.

Excellent quality - but it is leather

    • Written by from THORNTON-CLEVELEYS

As stated on the packaging "This case appearance will change over time", and that is certainly the "case".

As other have mentioned the case fits in perfectly and is a tight feature which is great, everything is aligned including the Apple logo and even the speaker holes.

I personally think the brown really compliments the white/gold and fits in well with my brown leather wallet. Although several people have told me the brown looks horrible and disliked it - I guess it's just personal opinion.

It's quality you'd expect from Apple, but as I've mentioned it does wear easily - but I still think it's worth the price.

    Love my case

    • Written by from Onalaska

The case has worked very well for me and my wife. I have the black and she has the yellow. There was an issue with the power button the first day but it sorted its self out after a day. I think the leather just needed worked out. My AUX cords all fit and have never had any problems with head phones.
The only issue is the yellow started to look dirty after a week or so. Took a leather wipe to it and it cleaned up just fine. My wife loves her's and so do I. Thank you apple.

    Best case for iPhone!

    • Written by from Hattiesburg

I've always changed cases on my iPhones pretty regularly, but I think I'll be keeping this one for a while!

Great protection for everyday use. The leather case feels great in my hand and adds a little more to grip onto without adding any noticeable thickness to the phone at all!

My only complaint is that it is very difficult to remove and that's necessary with some accessories. It's still got a great fit on the phone though, even after I've taken it on and off several times.

    Sleek but...

    • Written by from Winter Springs

Love the new leather case. It almost feels as if there isn't a case at all on the phone which I welcome because most cases add way too much bulk.

With that it is so very hard to remove. If you plan on leaving it on long term, go for it. If you're needing to remove the case for docking, etc. probably want to make a different choice. Although I must say I love it so much it is worth the struggle to remove it.

I've also been over cautious with setting the phone down because of the leather. Always worried if the surface is wet or not. I have the case roughly a week and already there is one little dot (stain) that's driving me crazy!

I purchased the RED one. Really love the case overall. I'm going to get the saddle tan one because I think that color will wear naturally and look good even if it is worn and stained.

    pretty snazzy

    • Written by from Westerville

I like the look of the case. Very sleek and refined. You can really see and feel the quality. It was designed and manufactured precisely. It's such a snug fit, it's difficult to remove the case once it's on. I see this as a positive, since I don't change my case and I believe this will prevent the phone from coming out inadvertently. I believe the case will sufficiently protect my phone (as well as a plastic case would, anyway).

I do have one negative. It's not a deal-breaker, but it's enough to prevent a 5 star review. The case will not stand up on its own (standing horizontally/landscape). Again, I can work with it, but I think it could have easily been designed with a flat side, allowing it to stand on its own.

Otherwise, I'm very satisfied and am confident it will last until my next phone.

Worth it, but not quite as "premium" as described

    • Written by from Brattleboro

I'm not a case person, but my 5 took enough abuse from a year of case-less use that I decided to get this for my 5S. As far as fit and finish go, this is a great case for the price. It looks professional and doesn't add considerable bulk up the phone.

The only downside is that the leather is definitely semi-aniline, so it doesn't exactly have the look and feel of real leather. I understand why Apple made this tradeoff with a product meant for mass market, but based on the product description I was expecting full aniline leather like the iPad cover.

    Snug, classy, great texture

    • Written by from Seattle

The case has a very snug fit. Peace of mind knowing that the phone will not fall out. Based on a few other reviews, the snug fit may be a bit of a nuisance. The Apple dock [for example] will not work if this case is on the phone. My two car chargers purchased from the Apple Store do not work with the case (which explains the -1 star). Aside from the decreased functionality of some of my non-Apple / sold through Apple accessories, the case is fantastic. I love the subtle texture. The slight raise of the case edge keeps the glass screen off of the table when placed face down. The brown reminds me of a basketball. I'm looking forward to seeing how the leather ages with use, oils, and dirt.

    Snug Fit, Slim, Good Grip

    • Written by from NEW YORK

    Case fits perfectly.
Leather has nice feel and I can get a good grip on the iPhone. Doesn't slip out of my hands

Took some time to figure out how to remove it:
Hold the iPhone so the back if facing you.
Pull back one of the top corners so the side is partially exposed.
Pull back the opposite top corner and more of the iPhone will be exposed.
Then pull the iPhone out of the case.

    Great Apple case, but

    • Written by from madison

I needed a cover for my new 5s and decided to give this one a try. I have always, always, found apple cases/covers to be nothing special and way overpriced. I can easily say this is the best iPhone cover I have used to date, going back to the original iPhone. The case has a great feel, offers protection everywhere except the screen, and fits very snug. While it's still very overpriced at $39, I don't regret the purchase at all. My only dislike, aside from the price, are the available colors. They are just plain awful. They made 6 colors and none of them are really nice. The beige has a pinkish hue and I can't imagine anyone buying it.

To sum it up, great case, although overpriced with poor color selection.

The opinion of a leather good designer

    • Written by from Dallas

So I design these things (SLGs) and so I bought one to try it out.

The leather is okay. Its more a glove leather with a slightly waxy hand. The color of the brown option, however, is pretty gross. It will patina and wear (probably quickly) and will hopefully get better. But brand new, it's cast is pretty fleshy.

Except for trying to get the phone out of the case, which can be a task at first, the construction is really good. The leather wraps from the outside into the interior bezel of the case and is cleanly finished at the back wall with some faux suede. No painted edge to peel off. The case is also very thin. Buttons have a little less tactile feedback because of the leather overlay.

All in-all, not bad. I just hope this color gets better.

Beautiful Case - Slightly worried how well it will age.

    • Written by from Clones

I picked the red version of this case over the weekend, and I was absolutely delighted with it. It feels really nice in your hand and the quality is excellent, as is the fit.

However, in the past day or so I've noticed that the case is scuffing and becoming quite grubby looking already. This may just be because there's one or two marks on it at the moment and as a result they're standing out. In time it might age more evenly. Time will tell.

    Extremely difficult to remove

    • Written by from Montreal

The case is beautiful and feels great. It is, however, extremely snug to the point where if you change your case often you will undergo a bit of a struggle (I have a wallet-case which I switch to when I leave the house, so changing my case happens several times a day). I worry the thin case will crack as I pry it off. It has a death grip on that phone. Plus, it pushes down on the lock button when you remove it from the top, and your phone will try to turn off.

If you intend to keep your case on "permanently," this is 10/10.

Nice grip and texture - a little worried about longevity

    • Written by from Boulder

Great fit for the iPhone 5S. Enjoying the natural material and color of the brown. Well cut pattern makes it work with accessories quite well. It's thin and easy in the front pocket.

I do worry a little about the longevity and hope that it ages with a lovely leather patina and not dried, warped or becoming baggy on the phone. I will not be removing it often so that should help it from becoming stretched.

Nice fit, nice feel, but hard to remove

    • Written by from Chicago

I bought a black iPhone 5s case for my new white/silver 5s. It fits nicely, and the leather (at least the black leather) has a nice feel. It's smooth enough while retaining a good grip. The combo is almost the same weight and only slightly thicker than the 5c without a case. My only complaint is that it isn't that easy to remove the phone from the case, so if you are getting a dock or a car holder keep that in mind.

    Very good

    • Written by from Buffalo

It is worth the price, the fit and feel are great. My only problem is that whatever coloring is used on the apple logo on the back scratches off much too easily and the case is hard to remove. The case is great in terms of protection, all edges are completely covered.

    Very functional

    • Written by from Northport

This is a case that feels like the leather you'd find in a car. It's very smooth and has a nice feel in the hand. The rounded back edges are very comfortable to grip and the buttons are easily pressed. It leaves access to the vibrate switch and the charger and headphone jack. The inside is lined with microfiber and keeps the device clean. On the bottom the speaker holes are perfectly aligned with the phone. It doesn't make the phone feel bigger and it doesnt add much of a lip above the screen. So if you were to drop it face down, there wont be much protection. Otherwise, it's a great case and as it is designed by Apple, it fits the phone perfectly. Worth the $40.
