    Negative 5

    • Written by from Leesburg

The only good thing about this program is that it does export a mov file to something that can be edited with a windows based product. AVI is your only option though. The other downfall, is if the video is 2 hours long, and you want to keep the integrity of the video the same, there is no acceleration speed. It exports at 1:1 speed. You cannot apply credit or fade-in screens. You cannot add introductions. Basically, everything the online representative told me was a lie, except the fact that it will convert the file to something I can use with some real editing software.

    Lower than 1

    • Written by from Glendale

If there was a score lower than 1, I would give it to QT 7. Yes, I was able to select a portion of the movie, copy it, and paste it into another movie. But no matter how many times I click or Save or Save As, it doesn't. Totally worthless.

    Quick Time Pro 7.7.1

    • Written by from Tulsa

For what I'm doing QT Pro 7 is ok. Giving 3 stars.
This is more of a amateur tool.
Not a Pro tool as one may imagine that it would be. It could be improved if Apple ever decides to do so.
Works good for me although It would be nice "in editing" if you could precisley remove the frame you want to remove from your movie.
If your looking for a product that is fine tuned and precise, keep looking...

Based on what I read about this product in the promotional sections, I assumed it would allow me to do some video editing. But it allows the user to basically do almost nothing. Had I known how worthless QT PRO was, I definitely wouldn't have wasted $29.99. I should have put the thirty bucks toward a decent video editing software. Lesson learned, I guess.

    Extremely Bad Experience

    • Written by from Royersford

I can't tell you how difficult and frustrating this experience was. Besides being unbelievably SLOW, it simply didn't work. I would try to delete a few second of a video and it would delete minutes. I ended up downloading free software. $30 down the drain.

I read the reviews. Some were good, but most of them were bad. I bought Quick Time Pro based on the good reviews. THIS WAS A TERRIBLE MISTAKE! It doesn't work right and it messes up my videos and sometimes deletes them. All my hard work, GONE. Then when I had an update, Quick Time tried to make me buy it AGAIN! Luckily I was smart not to. I can't believe awesome Apple would make this. Please, don't waste your money or your time. Do NOT base your decision on the good reviews like I did, because I regret it.

    $30 Mistake

Cannot play .mov files from a Sony EX-1. Other than viewing and editing, I have no other use for this product. Useless. I don't recommend. Waste of money.

    Not so great

    • Written by from Kihei

I bought the previous version, used it about 3 times and now must buy again to keep up with version changes. I wish I could say something to Apple, but I'm reduced to venting my anger in a subdued review which will be read by people with no interest in my petty problem. All I can do is not buy Pro again. "Ouch!!" says Apple. "Who threw that pinto bean at me?"

Cannot even open and MOD and MPEG file.

    • Written by from Morris

I think I just wasted $30 with QuickTime 7 Pro. I bought it with the intention of editing files from my JVC video camera on my pc (Vista). The format for JVC video is MOD and when I tried to open a video in QuickTime, I got the error message 2048, telling me it was a file that QuickTime doesn't understand.

OK - so I then converted the MOD to MPEG, which was the only format I could convert the file to and, when I tried to open the files, got the same message.

What a waste of $30 - glad it wasn't more.

    Solved my problem!

    • Written by

I was having to provide a video to a marketing company and they wanted it in the MOV format. My editor and another professional converter software distorted the aspect of the video. So, I saved it as an AVI and saved it as MOV with Quicktime Pro and it came out perfect. Well worth the money for me.

    QuickTime 7 Pro for Windows

    • Written by from Honolulu

Found it excellent. I guess there are those who are detractors because of the virus issue of Windows. I started with the MacIntosh Plus in the mid-80s, went to Windows 95 on a PC in the mid-90s, because we were using it at work, and now I have come full circle and take a lot of movies with my digital camera in the You Tube mode. I am still using a Windows 7 computer, however I use QuickTime exclusively. That is, I do not use Windows Media Player. I have not used a Mac since my Performa that I bought in the late 80s or early 90s. I have an iPhone and an iPad, though no iPod.

    QuickTime for Windows

    • Written by from Scottsdale

Very dissapointed. Waste of money. This is my first venture into Apple software product. QuickTime Pro does not do what it claims. For example, if you want to clip a lenghty video the resulting video when played is in fact the desired shortened clip but the new file is no smaller than the original.

If there was a way to return the product and get my money back I would do it. But Apple has my money and I have no satifaction. No more Apple products for me.

    Awful - Serious Issues

    • Written by from Harvard

The MOV files from my iPhone were rotated 90 degrees and since the size for 30 second clip is 45 MB I need to convert these to MP4 for smaller size I could pass around. Unfortunately when I exported MOV files to MP4, in QT Pro, the progress bar would display for a few seconds and then it and the QT main windows would freeze. I noticed the conversion continued (while the screen was frozen) and eventually completed. Unfortunately QT Pro can't seem to make an output with the correct aspect ratio. The output does not take into account the rotation and the result is a flattened image. Pretty poor piece of software for $30. This piece of junk should be rewritten by the good programmers at Apple instead of the new hires. Also, they should not charge at all for basic conversion and aspect ratio, and image rotation. What a rip-off.

One of the worst products for Windows

    • Written by from Atlanta

Not only does Quicktime facilitate the installation of server TSRs that are able to re-activate themselves if forced to quit from the Task Manager, and not only has my computer historically received more errors from Quicktime than any other program, but it also is bulky, buggy, and a required evil if you own an ios device. It's hypocritical how Apple has taken a stand against Flash because of its admittedly poor performance on Mac, considering how miserable and useless Quicktime ends up being on Windows. If I could do without it, I would (and so would most Windows users). Bad quality period.

buy another copy to have a functioning Quicktime Pro?

    • Written by from Rohnert Park

I bought Quicktime pro while I was using my Windows XP region. And with the camera I have it was absolutely a bargain for the price.

I do have one issue though, now that I have upgraded my PC to Windows 7 64bit do I have to buy another copy to have a functioning Quicktime Pro?

    What a mess

    • Written by

Downloaded QT7. Then bought Pro license. Edited a .MOV file and exported for Web. Worked great the first time. After that, same steps produced video and audio outputs BUT audio failed to play. Tried everything over the course of two evenings, including uninstall-reinstall. Now, I just want to cry. I guess "Pro" means "just once?" By the way, I can still load in my first successful output file array of desktop, cell, etc. mv4 files, etc and they play just fine... so my PC is not to blame.

What a mess. It really appears QT7 was attacked by a virus or something that disabled audio playback on exported for web files. I want to cry myself to sleep. So close... yet so far.

    Great for Editing HD Video

    • Written by from Williamsburg

The user interface is somewhat sparse, but the underlying capabilities are impressive. I have used this program for several HD projects from my Panasonic Lumix. I could easily cut and paste segments into my videos, and edit and sync sound tracks. I haven't seen these capabilities elsewhere for the price. The program also provides many great options for exporting to other formats. I should give it another star to counter the low ratings from others, which I don't understand, but I won't. It is a solid product for the price.
