Final Cut Pro X Volume Licenses: 20+ Seats (price is per seat)

  • Overview

Whether your business or school is large or small, the Apple Volume License Agreement (VLA) provides an easy and cost-effective way to purchase Apple’s Final Cut Pro X software for multiple systems.

With VLA, you license the right to use Apple software on a specified number of computers at your business or school — you determine how many. Volume Licenses start at 20 seats.

Customers receive a certificate that authorizes their use of the software for the number of licenses purchased. On completion of your Final Cut Pro X Volume License order, you will receive one content code per license purchased through your VLA. To redeem your software, your employees or authorized users will need to sign in to the Mac App Store with an Apple ID and password provided by your organization, company, or institution. Your use of the content codes and the redeemed software is subject to the terms and conditions applicable to the Mac App Store (http://www.apple.com/legal/itunes/ww/) and the applicable license agreement(s).

      Good once you learn it...

I was one of the people who disliked Final Cut X because I couldn't do several things. Then, after using it for a while, I figured out how to do those things. I was one of the people who disliked Final Cut X because I couldn't do several things. Then, after using it for a while, I figured out how to do those things. If you can learn how to make groups and compound clips (command-g and alt-g, use w to make gaps, and the range tool, r, to export pieces of the timeline) you can do just about everything you did in Final Cut 7. I have a few frustrations with FCX, but I had problems with FC7 when I originally learned that. You will trade frustrations for different frustrations, but in the end, you can do much more with FCX than FC7, and faster.

Having used it successfully at the 2012 Olympic Games, we decided to completely switch to FCP X in our post houses in Brussels and in Paris. No regrets whatsoever. Since the 10.1 update it also has become a strong asset in large collaborative workflows and I see more and more television production companies adopting the application. Professional support from Apple has been great for us. FCP X offers the best ROI one can wish.

We've learned it thoroughly and it is crippled. FCPX is simply too clip centric. An editor should be timeline centric. The timeline for editorial is like a score for music. FCPX gets raves for its database-like approach to media. As a database programmer I can tell you that their database design is horrific. All the data related to the project is essentially overloaded into the clips/media. It violates all the rules for relational database normalization or even Objected database design Imagine building an e-commerce system where there were minimal facilities for creating or tracking orders and all the data related to orders were tied to fields in the inventory database. That's what FCPX is.
