Besides I got tired of managing multiple backup drives, so I've opted for this 3TB baby. It's quite heavy due to the thick aluminum enclosure. The design and the build quality are awesome. Transfer speeds are great. I also love that there is a data encryption option, which gives me peace of mind knowing that even if I leave the drive behind somewhere the information contained cannot be accessed and is totally secure.

Very happy with the fanless design, great for musicians or anyone who hates noise.

It was plug-and-play for me and so far I haven't had any issues with it. The backups are faultless with Time Machine and I don't have to worry about my data security, since it can be encrypted with this drive, nor about running out of space - 3TB is an enormous amount of storage capacity to safely save all my files, music, video and photos..

Formatted it as HFS+J, and within 2 weeks of operation, I had to do a recovery. Not thinking it was the drive, and blaming the NAS, I reformatted, loaded it up, and all was well for about 2 months. Now it has killed everything, again, so it is going into the garbage can. What a lot of expensive junk!

It is defective. So, my options are to spend up to $1399 to get my data back, or send it back to you to fix it, but the data will be lost anyway. So, what is the point of buying this thing if I can only get my data by spending a ridiculous amount of money, even though it is defective and caused me to lose it in the first place. I don't think I will trust sending it back to be fixed and then chance losing even more data if I try it again. Purchasing this LaCie was a lose-lose situation for me, a total waste of money and a loss of my data. I gained nothing from purchasing your product, and lost a great deal. I didn't even have the option of getting a refund on the defective Lacie. Very poor customer service and no guarantee on their products.
