The cable I had with my iPhone 4, I had for 2 years with no problems at all. So I find it very strange that the lighting cord can stop working so easily. Even the cord for my first generation iPod touch which is 6 years old and it still works. Now I have to go buy another cord and spend more money to keep using my phone. I hope the issue gets fixed soon because I don't want to keep buying new lighting cords every 4 months.

All three have inexplicably stopped working. Each has gotten a short in the cord where it meets the lightning end though I've been careful to leave them straight, treat them gently (especially since the first failed). With my current cord, I have to hold the lightning end of the cord in a certain direction to get it to work. On top of that, when it happens to short out, it interferes with the electric current, disabling linked ports. i.e. when it shorts out in any of my computers' USB ports, the other ports become inactive as well (disabling my external hard drive and USB mouse); when it is plugged in a charger with multiple outputs, the other outputs become inactive as well. After buying several chargers, three iPods, three iPhones, and an iPad, I had amassed ten of the old 30-pin connectors. All ten work just as well as they did when I brought them home; I took it for granted that I never had an issue with any of them.

      Flimsy

Not up to usual Apple quality standards. Breaks down with normal use.

I'm a pro in video production so at any given moment I have a dozen or two pieces of equipment to keep powered and charged. Charge cables are ALWAYS an issue with any Apple product be it laptop, phone or tablet. Poor design, poor quality control, and obviously engineered to fail often. Seems desperate to me that the second most valuable company in the world must supply poor quality and then REQUIRE their licensed inferior design to carry 5v at 2amps through 2 conductors frequently unsuccessfully. Shame.

The rubber that protects the cord is tearing, and revealing the wire within the cable. Also, the USB Cable will not charge my phone so I have to position it correctly intruder to charge my phone. Im tired of buying new cables every month and I suggest that Apple should make there cables out of a better material so it does not tear.

I have had my iPhone 5 since it came out and it works fine dispite use and abuse plus an otterbox... So i guess thanks Otterbox! But these cords are useless. Every one from apple has broken within months and all third-party chargers that stay together end up quiting and i get an "accessory not supported" message after using the stupid thing for weeks every single day with no issues. All i can figure is ur updates mess up the connection somehow. I would glad to pay more for a charger if it worked longer than a few months, even though I think $20 is too much for a flippin charger... I want quality over quantity and will pay for it if I have to.
