New mac mini audio line out port can it be converted to toslink

I am looking to use the new mac mini as a media server but i need a toslink port, tech specs state its digital so if i purchase a jack to toslink cable will i be able to use this as a digital pass-through to a amp?

applications like XBMC will hand over DTS audio to an amp.

unfortunately i can only use the HDMI port for video.

Thanks.

    Barry,
You will need. DAC (Digittal To Audio) converter to go between the Toslink cable and your amp, unless the amp is ready to receive a digital signal. Toslink to CRA jacks will not do the that. DAC boxes range from about $100 up to mega bucks. The sound is remarkably better.
