    Stunning capability!

After 15 to 20 crashes of my new Epson V600 color scanner I was ready to ditch it! Then I decided to find the scanner driver software on internet and voila! -- it worked. The scanner software is very easy to use and the resolution borders on awesome, but why do they pack the product with an obsolete driver CD? All that aside, I think it one of the best scanners I have ever used.

    Quick, Simple, Versatile

Quick warm up, preview and scan. Scan quality is good for reflective material. I haven't tried the transparency option yet. The flatbed cover is rather large and heavy due to transparency function, but hinge design adapts well to thicker originals such as books. Included scanning utility software is good in pro mode. Could use a auto-descreen option. Have had for one month and I am pleased with purchase so far.

    V600 photo scanner

Scanned over 7000 slides with this scanner-However, Apple no longer supports this scanner with their new operating systems. Impossible to find a driver compatible with OS10.9

Works in mavericks both withEpsonScan and with Apple ImageCapture

I downloaded the latest software from Epson in 12-2013 and it all just works, does well with documents, photo's and slides. The software (Photoshop Elements and ABBYY scan express) are just about worth the purchase price. I have no trouble using this with Mavericks (10.9) and both the Epson software and Apples built in Image Capture work great. Very happy with the purchase

    Can't beat the price.

Great scanner for photographers, It scans all of your black-and-white negatives and color negatives from 35 to 2 1/4. It does all the work that the old high-end scanners would do at a serious good price. Finally I can Digitalties all of my past work in no time at all. For all of you photographers out there with hundreds of negatives, try out this guy.

    Not for Mavericks

Epson has not written updates for scanners (Perfection series+?).

    Epson doesn't work well again

Like many recent Epson products, this too, is a major disappointment. The software does not load properly nor does the scanner work easily. I will never buy another epson product.

    Epson V600

I received this scanner 7-17-13, the packing had omitted the power
cable connecting to the power adapter. long story short Epson customer
service sent a brand new scanner same day I called free shipping along with an email to return other unit. Epson is a top rated company, 5 stars.

I have only used scanner to send a scanned document, was excellent quality.
I will find photo scanning uses in near future.

    Rough Start

The Epson Perfection V600 Photo may eventually truly be "perfection," but, after three days of usage, I'm struggling. It arrives with two driver CDs and a warning not to use them. At the Epson website, I figured out how to download the scanner driver, but the site advises to go to PhotoShop and half a dozen other sites to get the rest of the utilities I paid Apple for--in other words, collect the rest of the software piecemeal. Nevertheless, I decided to dive in and start digitizing some of the photos that need no tweaking, and that's when I really got frustrated: The same steps yield different results!!! Place photo on screen, close top, push button = a great quality digital image of the photo. Yes! BUT, just as often, following those exact same steps with the exact same size and quality of original photo results in a digital image of what looks like a narrow, off-white column with a thumbnail version of the photo at the bottom. So, I look through the three, manual scanning modes to find that at least half the options are indecipherable. Epson-speak, perhaps. So, it's time to read the user's guide or owner's manual, right? Yeah, sure. Like so much else in the arrogant, squeeze-every-penny computer world, the Epson arrives without any instructions (except where to plug in the power cord and usb connection; the two things that really are intuitive). So, now I have to go back to the Epson site or call them and get an owner's manual. Then, of course, I have to go to all the other sites for all the other utilities--and user guides--for which I thought I had paid the Apple Store already. Instead of plug-and-play, this has turned out to be a do-it-yourself purchase.

I spoke with not one but four (not my choice) people from Apple this afternoon about the new Epson Perfection V600 I purchased from the Apple site today. I specifically purchased this scanner because the literature states that it's compatible with Mac 10.7 and has the OCR software included in the purchase. Needless to say that wasn't the case. You will need to download the driver software from Epson's site, which is no hassle but you won't get ANY of the bundled software they go on and on about in the literature, you'll need to purchase additional OCR scan software such as ABBYY Fine Reader (which is suppose to be included in the purchase of this product) on your own dime.

V600 photo scanner works great with Mountain Lion

Was concerned after reading reviews of problems re: downloading driver, connectivity issues, etc. but have experienced none. It was simple to do, just follow the directions and DON'T download from the CD that comes with the scanner.

It arrived in two day's time, after ordering online, awesome! I have purchased several scanners over the years and Epson is my preferable brand. Great job as a scanner, simple to install.

    Awful Experience (new V370)

After 3 tries with a different Epson V370 Scanner, I through in the towel and decided to no longer do business with them. It would never scan my color negatives correctly; if I tried to scan 4 or 5 frames, the photos would be split or divided with a bunch of partial pictures. They never could tell me why I couldn't get 4 or 5 complete frames, even after 2.5 hours on the phone with the technician.

Do not buy! Not up to speed with Apple products!

Epson you have to write software to make this unit recognizable to airport extreme! For the last decade, Apple's philosophy has been to eliminate wires. Apple Phones and Computers communicate with stereos and printers, and each other, wirelessly, and effortlessly! Which makes this product seem primitive and out of place on the Apple website, since it will only work when hard patched directly to a single computer at a time, and cannot be networked wirelessly through airport extreme.

If the product is going to be sold on Apple's website for use with Apple products, wouldn't it make sense to match it's aesthetic and performance with the products that it will be used with? This could have been a great product. But it seemed as though the design staff stepped out to lunch some time in the 1970's, and haven't returned since.

What a piece of junk. If the software can't be brought up to modern times, it should be removed from the Apple store. Or at least sold with a warning - "This product will set your computer back a decade! It will undo all the things that made you chose to buy an Apple Computer in the first place! And it will punish you by taking a few hundred dollars in the process." Completely disappointing.

Works great on Macbook Pro with Mountain Lion 10.8

So easy to set up. Just follow online instructions sent with the Epson Perfection V600 Color Scanner, do not use the CD installation that came with this scanner. Easy to use, too! I have been scanning color photos & restoring the color as I scan. I would recommend to all Apple users.

    Scans well.

Easy installation from Epson online, not with the included CD if you have OS 10.7 or .8. Many options using the professional option, which I recommend to all users. The scans of positive and negative film are outstanding using a dpi of 4800 or higher. Faster scan time than the Canon scanner that this Epson replaced. Recommended.

    Epson V600 Photo Scanner

Love it, installed software in an old Mac OS X 10.5, my main objective was to scan old family 35mm slides. First try very reasonable results, will need to color correct in photoshop, but to me thats normal. Nice looking unit fits right in with my other Epson products. It pays to buy things at the apple store if you us a Mac.
