    Does NOT work with iVisor

I have the Moshi iVisor on my Air and this clearguard will NOT let the MacBook Air close while on. Sadly it's going back.

5/5 for a Macbook Pro 3/5 for Macbook Air

I'm only rating this a 3/5 so that this review gets noticed by people purchasing/because I wish Moshi made a Keyguard for 13" Macbook Air!

I've used this exact key guard on a Macbook Pro (13") and a Macbook Air (13"). On the Macbook Pro, it is amazing, as it is specifically made for this computer. It does get dirty considerably fast though, and the standard Apple cleaner does a terrible job at cleaning it. That being said, the grime on the key guard does not get on the screen, and obviously stays off of your keyboard.

However, there is no 13" Macbook Air Keyguard by Moshi. So owners of this are forced to by this key guard [it is the best on the market in my experience]. On the Macbook Air (13") it feels clumsy and my typing slows down considerably because I feel as though my fingers are slipping slightly from side to side. Also, because the material is so thick/sits off of the keys so high, it rubs against the screen and leaves gross oil marks on the screen that are a pain to remove. I do have slightly oily hands because I tend to use moisturizers regularly. I would not recommend buying it for a Macbook Air 13" for this reason. I will be waiting (and hoping) for a 13" Macbook Air version of the Keyguard.

Works fine - not for fast typers

Just got this for my 13" macbook pro. Fits wonderfully, can't tell its there by looking at it and is ideal if you're just playing music or browsing the internet, but I have found that it is not ideal for typing for any sort of length (I even took it off to type this review). Probably not ideal for people who type in excess of 70-80wpm. I fully intend to keep and use it when I'm casually using my computer such as streaming videos or playing music.

I bought the key protector as well as the trackpad protectors over a
year ago and they're still in perfect condition! They're the best ones,
I definitely recommend Moshi for someone who wants to protect their
    beloved Mac items.

I saved my own money for a long time to get a macbook pro when I started college. I wanted to protect my investment so I bought some things for it. I didn't initially think about the keyboard though. I noticed that after a time the keyboard, especially the space bar was getting a very unattractive shiny gloss over it. And the keys felt a little slippery and just not as satisfying to type on. I spend a lot of time typing, and I really didn't want my keyboard getting worn out any time soon. Or to have my entire computer not stand a chance if some water was to sink into the internal parts through the keyboard if something was spilled. The keyboard seems to be the most vulnerable part of the computer in terms of spill damage. The only problem was that I also really, really hate the squishy rubbery feel of most keyboard protectors. I don't want my keyboard to feel like it has a little latex pillow that I have to press through over each key. Tactile response is everything in keyboards. So I did some research and found all of the Moshi products for macbooks.

At first I was a bit disappointed. The cover was rising up in a corner and not laying perfectly flat like I wanted it to. I also had to get used to the new feel, even if it was only slightly different. But after a few days, it just flattened out and now conforms to the macbook perfectly. I really don't notice it all now. My only reminder is the slight clouding of the color of the black keys. But that's only superficial, and well worth it. The back lights show through with no issues whatsoever.

I did a lot of research before picking this one and there seems to be a lot of issues with the cheaper alternatives that deterred me from buying them. Other keyboard protectors that try to color the rubber on top of the keys to either make it more discrete (black) or putting funky colors on it. Maybe a different color can be cute or the black can be less noticeable but it obscures the real keyboard and its back lights. I saw some video reviews where they either didn't show through at all, or they did but the letters on the cover were not in line with the letters on the keyboard. It creating a sort of blurry, layered effect for all of the letters in the dark. Some also didn't actually have the same shape of the keys in the cover, they made the cover completely squared instead of slightly rounded like the keys really are. Some also made the lettering on the keyboard bigger than it was on the keyboard. I thought it made it look pretty juvenile... None of that is an issue with the moshi keyboard because it's just letting the real keys show through. All while avoiding that squish. Why do youtube reviewers think it's a good thing if the cover can stretch like a rubber band...?

Cleaning is very easy, and not needed often anyway. Tactile response is actually a little better now in my opinion. It feels more natural than it did before; after I got used to it, of course. Other keyboard protectors do not compare by a long shot. It's not a floppy piece of rubber. It doesn't stretch like a rubber band when you are handling it. It keeps it shape. And best of all, its discrete. Clearly the length of this review speaks to how easy it is to type on as well :)

    Just got it!

I ordered this along with my purchase for the 13" Macbook Pro Late 2011. It arrived to the apple store, picked it up and I am typing with it on my macbook as I rate this product. I love it! :)

    Buy this if nothing else!

I love my Moshi Keyboard Protector. I purchased this along with my MacBook Pro and the PalmGuard Protector (from Moshi). I no longer have to worry about crumbies making it's way around the crevices of the keyboard keys. I have no problems typing with it on, plus it dampers the noise that a keyboard without it would make. It doesn't shift either ... I was worried about that happening based on other reviews made here. It's absolutely perfect!!!

    Try Thicker Silicone Before This

I bought my first Mac about three weeks ago. Along with it I purchased this keyboard cover.

It is certainly not what I had expected. Yes, it conforms to the keyboard and, when not in use, is barely noticeable. But with every keystroke a large portin of the cover shifts, causing my fingers to get tangled up and "trip" over the guard. A friend of mine has thicker silicone one which does not cause this same problem. Needless to say I have purchased a silicone cover for around $3 on eBay. It has yet to arrive; I remain optimistic. For $3, try the thicker silicone cover before this one.

I feel that this cover would protect against dust, humidity and the occasional misdirected sneeze. In no way should you expect it to protect against a spilled Coke as the borders of the guard are easily undermined.

    I hope that this helps.

    great buy

just picked this up at my university bookstore

its actually exactly as people say, i can barely feel it. you can barely see it, its not lifting up as a lot of people say it is

i am a fast typer and its not riseng up at all, of course there is a difference, there is a 0.1 mm thin material so yes your fingers will feel a very very slight difference but trust me, its barely there

    very very worth it.

    Worth every penny!

I just brought this home today and I have to say I love this thing already. Thin, light, and hardly noticeable. This was with the $25 price tag!

    None Better!

My wife got one for her new MacBook Pro and now I'm getting one for mine. Enough said! More specifically, I like it because it's super thin and, unlike what one negative review noted, it does not stick to our fingers when we type with it or lift away from the keys. My only regret is not buying it 18 months ago when my MBP was brand new; Lord knows how much dust and lint is in my keyboard already.

    Very Nice

The keyboard guard is nice and clear and easy to type on. Worth the money spent. One thing I don't like about it is that they don't have it in different colors

    Works Good.

I have used KB covers in the past and this brand seems much thinner. This is better, because it doesn't slow down my typing. I can type about 30 to 40 words per minute without any problems. I don't know why others say the cover moves when typing or sticks to their fingers, but then again it's something that may change with different hands.

I should also point out I'm using an early 2011 MBP 13", and the moshi cover was bought around the same time.

The only con I've noticed is that with the increased thickness the oils, and dirt caught by the cover are then put on the screen unless you put a microfiber cloth on top when you close the laptop. Although, I imagine this would be the case with any cover seeing as Apple machines these units with extreme precision and without the addition of third party accessories.

It has already saved my laptop about 3 times from water damage so I reckon it's paid for itself several times over.

    Pretty awesome invention!

I love my keyboard cover/protector. It was definitely worth buying because I can type and use the keyboard just like I could prior to applying the cover onto it. It seemed to adhere itself to the keyboard flawlessly within a couple of days or so of me using it. I don't have to worry about trying to blow out crumbs, dust, or other normal particles out of the keyboard itself, I just take off the cover and wash it (takes less than a minute to do so), dry it with paper towels, and reapply to the keyboard. Voila! No more particles.

My only issue with the product, and this is completely my fault, is that as I was reading out of a heavy book that was propped up on my laptop towards the bottom 2 rows of the keyboard, I didn't realize that I had pushed up part of the cover from those rows and it was folded kinda inward under my book for at least a few hours (if not more). After that, a small part of the cover that lays on the space bar lifts up a little exposing that area to the possibility of letting in particles and whatever else the cover is supposed to prevent from letting in. However, it hasn't been an problem so far, and I know that if I hadn't stretched it like that for such a long period of time, it would still have been perfect for a long time. I would definitely recommend this product to family and friends without hesitation.

    moves when you type

I wonder why most people give this a 5 star, this thing is a bit loose and moves when you type. I can't even play using this.

I read the reviews before I purchased it. I noticed it was split about 50/50 good/bad. I decided I'd go ahead and try for myself because though, yes, it's expensive --if I liked it it would be more than worth it.

Now that I have it on my keyboard, I absolutely think that anyone who said they liked it works for the company or "bird peck" types. If you know how to type and are capable and successfully type more than 15 words/minute there factually is no way you can like this produce.

I'm open to the idea that maybe there are "bad batches" or something, but the product I received in the mail is nearly impossible to type with. Every other key you press you find yourself dragging the previous letter with you.

If by any chance the manufacturer or someone with a say in the development of this product cares enough to read these reviews, please take this following, seemingly simple solution to the problem that all people capable of typing are inevitably going to encounter: Tinker with the idea of putting some sort of mild adhesive in between every few keys! The Apple keyboard layout is ideal for putting a small strip of adhesive gel (perhaps a thin layer of the sticky, rubbery feeling sticky stuff they stick paper advertisements to DVD's with). A thin layer of that is plenty sticky enough to resolve our issue --but is designed to not leave behind a residue.

I think the idea of this product is great, and if you could redesign it to stay on while typing fast it would be perfect. But if you expect, or have an ideal that someone should choose between protecting their keyboard and being productive you're sadly mistaken. 1. That doesn't have to be a choice, I feel this issue could easily be resolved. 2. People WON'T make that choice in your favor!

live in a humid environment, this protector ROCKS for protection!!

I live on a humid tropical island with salt in the air and sand everywhere. This keyboard protector has helped extend the life of my computer!!! Had it for over 3 years now.

Getting ready to buy another one for my new mac pro.

Highly recommend if you use your computer outdoors a lot or in a humid, salty environment!
