Macworld NY 2001: User groups rally in New York. For user groups, there was more to Macworld Expo NY 2001 than walking the show floor and seeing Apple unveil some of the world's coolest hardware and software. Several events increased user group exposure to the public and allowed user group leaders and members to meet with their peers. It's amazing what user groups can learn and accomplish when they join together.

Apple User Group University
User Group University offered user group leaders from around the world a full day to participate in interactive sessions on managing and improving their local MUGs. The theme was reinvention, and emphasis was placed on the importance of MUG leaders making meaningful and visceral connections within their local communities.

User Group Apple Breakfast
User group leaders had the opportunity to talk with other leaders and see some great presentations from Apple. Presentation topics included iServices, the evolution of iMac, and the new line-up of Power Mac G4s.

Apple User Group Guides
User group members were stationed in the Central Park Internet Café ready to answer attendee questions, show off the hottest booths on the show floor, and offer information about user groups.

The User Group Lounge
User group members gathered at the User Group Lounge, a comfy room just off the show floor, to meet and chat with other Mac community enthusiasts and hear presentations from “Mac celebrities.” This space was generously donated by IDG.
