The week of Macworld Expo New York was once again packed with events and activities for user group leaders and members. User Group University on Tuesday started the week, and the Apple User Group Breakfast capped it off. The days in between were filled by celebrity speakers in the User Group Lounge as well as the User Group Guide service and the Local User Groups booth. User Group University User Group University, a conference for user group leaders, featured a full day of leadership sessions, exciting surprises, and networking. Nearly 150 leaders, including over 20 student leaders, learned from user group leaders and Apple staff on topics such as Appealing to Younger Generations and Delivering Killer Presentations. User Group Guides User group volunteers once again came to the aid of thousands of bewildered Macworld Expo attendees. As User Group Guides, they offered assistance with questions ranging from booth locations on the show floor to finding a local user group. The guides demonstrated the assistance groups provide their members. Local Groups Booth Thanks to space generously donated by IDG, several area user groups staffed booths offering information to prospective members. Campus user groups from around the country were also stationed at the user group booth as they introduced campus groups to hundreds of students. User Group Lounge When user group leaders, members, and potential members needed to take a break from the show floor action, they stopped by the User Group Lounge. However, the lounge was not just a place to kick back and relax. Instead, dozens of industry luminaries and celebrities hosted informal sessions. Dave Marra, Bob LeVitus, Chris Breen, Andy Ihnatko, and others offered inspiration, humor, and excitement to the user group community at Macworld. |

Apple User Group Breakfast Who would start lining up for breakfast at 5:30am on a Friday? Some of the hundreds of user group leaders who didn't want to miss the Apple User Group Breakfast nearly beat the registration volunteers to the event. It was worth it, as attendees received gifts and heard engaging and informative presentations by a Mac OS X Product Manager and the Director of Applications Product Marketing. Another Macworld Expo has come and gone, but attendees left the conference inspired to return to their groups, get new members, and plan incredible events. User group leaders who were unable to attend Macworld are invited to visit The MUG Center to browse many of the materials and presentations provided at the show. Group leaders should stay tuned to the Apple User Group Bulletin for news about future conferences and sessions. |
