iMetro: several cities
About iMetro: several cities
You select departure station and destination on your iPhone, and it will tell you the best route. This application finds three different solutions:
- Fastest Route: based on minimum time estimation.
- Easiest Route: based on minimum connections. It is useful if you have luggage, or just prefer an easier route.
- Handicap accessible: makes all connections at stations with handicap access.
Boston Example: If you want to go from Lechmere to the Airport, the fastest route (22 min) is to change for the Blue line at Government Center. However, since Government Center is not handicap enabled you may prefer to change for the Orange line at North Station, then for the Blue line at State (26 min).
The application was developed in pure HTML and JavaScript, including the search algorithm. This means that Safari can run the application without Internet connection, so if you save the page in your iPhone you can run it while traveling. In order to overcome Safari’s short cache persistancy, you may use iWebSaver to create a “permanent” link.
Several cities are currently available: Boston, Madrid, Barcelona, Paris, London, Paris, Vienna, New York. If you want to suggest another city, just send me an email. RAFAEL
