Choose your required target language using a structured menu system. Much like a standard phrase book, it covers various topics including travel, accommodation, emergencies—even romance. Simply select your desired phrase, and iPhone or iPod will display a written translation on screen and offer you the option of hearing a recording of the phrase delivered by a professional voice-over artist native to the country of origin. Order a round of drinks, make small talk with the locals, deal with embarrassing medical situations, find your way around exotic locations and much more. It’s quicker and easier than using a standard phrasebook, and the availability of audio translations means you can choose to have iPhone do the talking for you (via the built-in speaker) or, should you decide to speak the language yourself, be certain of your pronunciation.
