Can you Airplay from a Mac to Homepods without Internet
Airplay only seems to work as long as there is an Internet connection, just having the router on is not enough as my homepods become unavailable the moment I lose my (satellite) internet connection, is there a workaround? I know that you can connect an iPhone to HomePods without an internet connection but this is specifically about connecting my Macs (Macbook air 2017 & iMac 2019) to homepods. There is no iPhone with enough memory to have my 1Tb+ of music on it, and Apple Music is useless without an internet connection. Surprising as it may seem there are still vast areas of Europe where internet connections are not available

You cannot set up the HomePod without access to Wi-Fi and the Internet. Once configured it is possible to AirPlay from an iOS device to HomePod over an ad hoc connection that doesn't need an additional Wi-Fi access point. See the Change AirPlay settings section of Change settings for HomePod - Apple Support.
