Well the first thing is to know which 12" MacBook you have. I am going to assume the Early 2016 version.
Looking at Apple's Tech Specs page found in their KBase article SP741

    It states:
Dual display and video mirroring: simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display and up to 3840 by 2160 pixels at 30Hz on an external display, both at millions of colors

However, this monitor has a res of 5120-by-2880 so it does not look like it would be possible with the MacBook to drive this particular monitor.

    Hope this helps!

  • No, it will not. The 4K 21.5" will because it is using a USB C cable for input/output. This monitor uses Thunderbolt 3, and the 12" MacBook does not support the Thunderbolt protocol.

  • The 4K works just fine with the MacBook. (Got my 4K yesterday). I would expect the 5K to work with it as well.
