I bought the 2.66 GHz 15 inch MacBook Pro. In addition to the DVI to HDMI cable, would I be able to output the video to my HDTV? I understand I need audio cables as well, which I have. Does a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI exist to "cut out the middle man?"

To answer your first question, yes, with the setup you have, you should be able to output HD video to your TV. Granted you purchased the proper DVI-D to HDMI cable as indicated in the reviews and questions above.
The second question, no, currently there is no Apple sponsored Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter in existence, and if it did exist, it would have been available for you to purchase when you checked out.- Answered by Tony B
