Does the Lightning port on the adaptor allow for the iOS device to sync as well as charge? i.e. Is the Lightning port Only for Charging?

An authentic apple manufactured "Lightning Digital AV adapter" should allow for both charging and data transfers via the lightning port. Good luck and let us know.
