No. This is not compatible with the non-pro 12" MacBook, at all. Source: apple support document HT207266 "About the compatibility of the Apple Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter".

No, it cannot, according to Apple's compatibility guide for the the adapter.
