Is there audio out or do I need to use the iPads mic out?
I would like to know if this device has pass through that I can take the output and plug into my amp. I don't really want to use the mic-out provided by the iPad as this wouldn't be the correct impedance for my amp.

The only available audio output would be from the iPad's headphone out, which would of course be stereo. The JAM only provides input, with A/D conversion, into an iPad, Touch or iPhone via the dock connector, or direct into a Mac via USB. If by 'amp' you mean a guitar amp, the answer would be no. If you mean a stereo power amplifier, then yes, you could use a stereo mini jack out from the iPad's headphone out to a pair of RCAs or 1/4 inch jacks.
